GOG says "We never save your payment data". If that's true the above cant' be true. Nothing to do with whether it's on the storefront or not, if they keep it, they save it.

It was quite impressive how campaign started off with a point and ended up like Mass Effect so convoluted and full of shit haha.

Well its not all that surprising considering he did proclaim twice that he was going to give his account to Nes which anyone in their right mind (unlike gunsynd) would never do.

Probably not the complete data. Just like the first/last numbers or just a hash of them, enough to reliably create a connection to existing orders/users.
The complete set stays with the CC processing company, like. i.e. Authorize.net.

More likely they just store the transaction ID or something similar. It's basically useless as a way of getting the original CC number, but if they need to give a refund or keep track of sales, they can use that. The CC processor is the only party that's going to be able to turn that ID into a CC number and honestly, why would they even bother? They already have that.

They asked for only the last 4 digits of the CC, and they might well not have more than that. The payment provider (PayPal, Visa, etc.) may be the only one to have the full card number. I'm no expert, but I think that is a common way of doing it. In case of a dispute, GOG would have to go through the payment provider to do anything anyway. Still, for accounting purposes, they have to have records of each transaction, but they don't need the full credit card number to uniquely identify a specific transaction.
