There is an old saying if something looks like where you have your doubts on:
If something looks like to be too good to be true it ain't true.
So with that in mind i would stay away from it and only buy from trusted sites.

AlexY: g2play is selling game keys for a while now, completely legit, and is currently under the Kinguin umbrella. I can vouch for g2play, and it's likely that Kinguin is fine too.

Big_Boss: Yes but why Steam said that G2play is not legit?
Maybe thei keys are stolen?
I'm only thinking about it, because the prices on those key sites are pretty good.
Dunno, I think I have around 20 games in my Steam library that came from g2play keys. Half of them Valve games!
Game keys are funny things, they're almost becoming a currency, and as such the legitimacy becomes very difficult to ascertain. The site may be legal, but the transfer of keys may be those of illegally obtained keys. An example would be credit card fraud, though other money laundering opportunities could equally be used. Once they trade via the site, the resultant cash is not traceable without specific investigation.

Basically, you can use keys to clean money. So the legallity of the site is much more subjective that just a simple "Are they the ones that stole the keys?".

Rohan15: And Web of Trust says scamadvisor is fraudulent.
But scamadvisor says WOT is trustworthy. Now I don't know what to believe :P
I don't know about this site in particular, but you need to be careful with key sellers in general. Unknown Worlds Entertainment revoked a bunch of Natural Selection 2 keys, which were likely purchased with stolen credit cards then resold at a reduced price.
I bought Tomb Raider there for a fair price but I have my doubts about them. Their business is to sell Steam keys but either Steam or publishers endorse them. When I buy a game, I want to be sure that publishers gets their cut.
Now I stick with greenmangaming.com which has a support of both. Prices still aren't competitive considering local market yet price is one for all (for Steam games) and sales can be interesting sometimes.

Few years ago I've bought a game from a guy at allegro (it's like eBay site). Everything was fine, I didn't have any problems with game activation. After a month, Steam took that game away from me. The support told me that this game was bought by stolen card. I was really pi**ed off. After a couple of emails he told me that he bought this game at G2Play. I was not the only one, the other people (from the auction) I've been spoken to, lost their games too. I didn't get my money back from this guy (others too). I've read many negative posts about G2play at SteamUnpowered forum (I see it doesn't exists now). We never know where the keys from stores like G2play come from and if they were bought legally or not. In my opinion, kinguin.net is the "best" place for such people who's selling the games from "suspicious sources". I was lucky that Steam didn't ban my whole account, it's worth much much more than one "cheap" game.

Finally I wanted to try this site, and I bought Bioshock Infinite for 18€.
It was a US key, I activated and finished the game.
I hope Steam will not remove it, the seller had 200 positive feedback, so I hope this was a legit key.

Here the game costs too much, 50€ for PC version, 70 for console one.
Minor necro; bought Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider on the 3rd after reading about the site on another forum and people there seemed very happy with the service after using it for months. Bioshock had arrived to My Games by the next morning, and TR arrived about an hour ago. The price in total was 25€, so I'll definitely be using the service in the future too because those prices can't be topped. Still need a good deal on Far Cry 3: currently all the Steam keys are sold out so I'll just wait.

Now, if you don't like advertising, feel free to skip the next line...

In case you're interested to try the service, and you're an extraordinary nice person, would you consider registering and making your purchase through my referral, which is http://www.kinguin.net/rewardsref/index/refer/id/49241/ , that way I get 10 Kingolds after the registration and 1000 after the first purchase. 1000 Kingolds equals 1 euro. I'm cheap and need even better discounts :)
Apologies for the minor necro again - I too have just used it with no problems. Delivery to my account took a few minutes after payment. The key was sold as worldwide, but oddly enough, it was delivered as a photo of the key sheet from a Russian retail copy. In any case, it redeemed fine as a ROW Steam key.

I remain sceptical, but at least on this occasion all went well.

G2play still exists, it merely changed to g2play.net
Kinguin is a really legit site, just look at their FB and twitter page. They have Steam, Origin, Desura (and other key sites) for FAR cheaper deals then on the official webshops. I am a long time costumer and they mail your key withing 10 sec. And all the keys you bought is stored in your account's library on their site (so look on in your game library rather than your mail, you might get they key faster this way)

What they do: you are a keyshop (but not well known), you have to fulfill some criteria (like being paypal secured etc) and tell kinguin to put their product on their site. This way, you as a costumer don't have to look all over the net to find the cheapest deals. This site gives you a list of all the webshops that offer this product and you just pick the cheapest one. And you pay via kinguin.

even if the seller has 0 positive feedback don't worry about it. Means they are a new shop and kinguin only takes secure site and distributes their keys. Most shops that offer paypal, visa are secure these days. (though being cautious is always a good thing on the net)

Yeah well some of their keys are scanned from the retail box itself to show that the keys are genuine :p Not everything that is written in Russian (or any other foreign language) must be suspicious. They are a EU company so they have lot of European partners.

Let's be honest. We don't really know how electronic games distribution works but because we're at GOG, the only people who could explain how this business works is GOG.
For the record, all of those cdkey sites (g2play, kinguin, etc.) are illegitimate, unauthorized resellers. Kinguin is just a database of them, like Google shopping showing you prices of every store it finds. And they may make some affiliate $ off of the other ones.

You can tell a store is not legitimate when they sell Russian copies of games and/or tell you to use a VPN to activate one. That violates the terms of service of many distribution platforms including Steam and I think Uplay? You should avoid those sites at all costs. Working keys does not mean 'legit'.

The problem with shutting them down is that many countries allow the reselling of games, so legally they can't be touched even they support practices like VPN's and bypassing regional pricing (2 violations). But they can be screwed over (credit card chargebacks for example) and they can't do a thing because they don't work with the publishers of those games, nor will (Steam for example) accept their claims to revoke games from your account. They're just people with access to boxed copies of games (by whatever means they obtained them) trying to make money.

Just FYI. I deal with this stuff regularly.
