"We will give you a choice of distribution, always including a DRM-free option, for both the core game and future expansions.

Our target platform is PC and the game will be available for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. "

Like that bit :)

Why kickstarter when BIA and Crossfire didn't do that?

Do they own the game if they don't own the JA IP?

The License is in the hands of BitComposer. They developed JA:BiA (outsourcing it I think), thus why no kickstarter. Full Control negotiated the JA IP rights, but still needs to fund the game. They could either ask BitComposer (or another publisher) for money, or go to Kickstarter. They decided to go to Kickstarter, so instead of 1 person telling them what to do, they'll have 10,000 telling them what to do.
I wonder if these guys can guarantee that their game will be more complex tactics and have more weapon types than JA2 with 1.13 mod
I am hopeful about this one. Would love to see the JA2 gameplay with an updated engine and new story.

This seems to be quite slow...

I wonder if $25 is too much for a kickstarted game...

Platformers tend to be around $10-15 or small indie games. Ones by bigger/better known devs like for RPGS like Wasteland 2/Project Eternity/Tides of Numenera/Divinity Original Sin around $20- 25 is about right.
Id say $25 for this kickstarter is about right.....
$150 is alot for the boxed edition of the game from a unknown studio. It does look very interesting though.

Sure, but this isn't a bigger or better known dev. It's the name alone, really.

I'm not saying the price is too high. I'm just saying that I can't see myself funding this. There's really nothing in their pitch that convinces me they can make a good Jagged Alliance game.
It might have been better if they had waited until Space Hulk was released and people could see what they can accomplish.

Also pretty ballsy to open paypal before funding on kickstarter.
Yes, yes, yes. More JA!

Well Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, Broken Sword and Double Fine Adventure were only $15.

I know PE and Tides were a bit higher but they did have lower tiers to start off with... I think it might be a bit of a miscalculation - bearing in mind there should be some discount for people who get in early and there is SOME risk (although perhaps small) that the project might not even happen...

Only time will tell.

Personally, I love Jagged Alliance, but haven't yet gotten into Jagged Alliance 2... I gave it a shot but it seemed a lot more complicated than the original.

This is true, but also substantially more rewarding! Don't forget the 1.13 patch after your first play through :D

How does that adage go? Every time there is a new post about Jagged Alliance somebody reinstalls.
Oh my. I love JA2 and currently playing through BiA (not as good as JA2 but not terrible, still a stupid idea to give up turn based for a JA game).

I haven't seen a serious KS with such bad tiers as this one...
For starters $25 is too much for a lesser known company. At least if they would have had an early backer tier at $20.
Double Fine, Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun - $15
Project Eternity, Torment - $20/25

Those are established companies who you know can deliver, and in many cases they asked for less.

Then there are the next tiers... baaaaaaad.

-$50 - Come on! You are playing on the love that people have for the JA series. Chances are people backing this already own them. Offering JA and JA2 is meh, even more so with GG having a package with JA, JA Deadly Games, JA 2 and JA2:UB currently on sale at €3. So it's truly a $25 increase for the soundtrack and a map. Do they have some awesome composer on board to warrant that? I didn't check.

-$75 tier would be a decent increase from the $50 one if the $50 one would not suck.

-$100 - behind the scene access - most kickstarters offer this at the lowest level, especially Double Fine with their video documentary. Limiting this to $100+ is pretty lame. The T-Shirt is cool.

I won't go into the rest of the tiers except to say that $150 for the boxed version is a bit steep.

Anyway, not impressed enough to back. I don't understand why BitComposer doesn't fund this. According to the video they were looking for a company to develop a turn based JA. I mean if you're a publisher owning an IP and are looking for a studio to develop a game of that IP wouldn't it be in your plan to actually pay them... Meh, I'll keep an eye on this, maybe they come up with something worth while.
