First the slaughter in Bangladesh, then the trainwreck in Puglia, then this. Definitely a bloody summer for us.
Bradley, in the remote chance you actually believe what you write (which I always doubted and I continue to doubt) everyone's already formed an opinion on the EU, the outsiders, the insiders and whatever, be it good, bad or nutral. People generally don't question their worldviews - something they established over the course of years or even decades - because of something they read on an internet forum.
Just like some people don't want to realise that ganging up on you won't make you shut up or go away, your posts aren't going to change anyone's mind either. All you're doing is perpetuating this infinite and useless drama which serves no other purpose but to entertain yourselves: you start your wall of litanies, then Tiny and Breja jump on your ass, then Tauto and Kleetus jump on theirs, and so on and so on, until you all get bored.
As for your earlier question as to who is taking care of the victims: the populace has been transferred into tent camps for now. Food, water and basic medical support are being provided by the Civil Defense agency, the Red Cross, and other charitable organizations. The government is allocating funds to cover the initial expenses, and from what I've heard, the EU has said this can be done outside the constraints of the
Pact of Stability.
But the real problem of course is funding the reconstruction, and providing mid-term lodging for the evacuees. From what I understand, EU money might be used (via the European Solidarity Fund) but only at request of our government. Not sure if Renzi will do that. Bet he'll probably want to avoid showing 'weakness'.
