As far as I know, the only panels that reach 1000nits(and more) are HDR panels. I've never heard of a non-HDR panel with more than 500nits, though honestly I haven't been keeping an eye out on the monitor market for the last 2 years.

I suspect that you are either mixing contrast with nits(cd/m^2), or you are "trolling" again.

Jon_Irenicus_PL: I have a 2560x1440p, 165hz monitor.
How does that feel? Do you feel ashamed?

BrianSim: Is this another troll thread like your "anyone who doesn't own an RTX 3080 is a worthless peasant that should be mocked" or "1080p as used by 80% of gamers is dead" GPU ones?

Breja: The real question is if he made his 1000 nits HDR monitor himself.

I do not see why you are being upvoted for being vicious for no season.

That thread was a long time ago, and it was hypothetical

I just want to know if HDR and 1000 nits is necessary. No need to be vicious.

Quoting back your own universally downvoted (and half the time locked by the moderators) past threads to you isn't being "vicious", it's simply highlighting the absurdity of your 'questions'. If you want a HDR monitor, or an RTX 3080 or an 8k monitor, then buy one. It's blatantly obvious it isn't 'necessary' when 99% of people don't own one and 99% of games don't support HDR. But the fact you keep framing all your questions in such a way as to want to 'humiliate' or 'shame' anyone who doesn't or declare 'obsolete' anything else even if 99% of people use it, and you keep doing the same thing over and over, month after month, year after year, suggests you have serious reality discernment issues if you genuinely aren't trolling...

mqstout: I'm ALREADY blinded by existing games on standard monitors when they decide to do screen flashes of various sorts. Why would I want it to be even worse?
Funnily enough, I think fade to white should be reason for a complete ban from all stores for that developer. Imo that's a physical attack nowadays.

Jon_Irenicus_PL: Is owning a monitor that's not HDR with a peak brightness of at least 1000 nits and a very wide colour gamut pointless in 2021?
You obviously never grew up with regular VGA with 320x200x8 or 640x480x4 resolutions...

Honestly though i don't use a monitor or TV with at least so much power that i have to wear a welding mask on in order to not blind myself, and 32 speakers all with the strength and output of jets going Mach 5 directly into my ears, and a seat that has at least 100 Mega jouls of energy to massage my back while i game, and a gaming mouse that bites back (Yes a real mouse just stapled to the desk) with a laser attached to it's forehead.

I was just wondering if my monitor isn't up to par. Not anything wrong with that. I thought maybe HDR monitors were the standard nowadays, and I was falling behind the times. It's vicious to be obnoxious about it. It's a perfectly legit issue.
