Pay with one click, avoid additional bank fees, and track your gaming budget!

Today, we're rolling out the GOG Wallet, a highly-requested quality-of-life feature aimed at gamers who frequently face international bank fees, use pre-paid debit cards, or prefer the extra convenience and control over their budget.

The GOG Wallet is designed to be user-friendly and flexible: top-up your Wallet with any amount between 5 USD and 500 USD (or the local equivalent) using any payment method; if you're using a pre-paid card, or you're just a bit short on Wallet funds, you can easily combine GOG Wallet funds with other payment methods during checkout. It's easy, fast, and totally safe.

Additionally, any store credit earned with the Fair Price Package (if a product costs more in your country than in the US, we always make up the difference) will now be automatically added to your GOG Wallet funds. Nobody likes to take time out of their gaming to do math, so we're doing it for you!

To kickstart your GOG Wallet and learn about the details, make your way to <span class="bold">www.gog.com/wallet</span>.

nightcraw1er.488: I wouldn't use the wallet, pointless gimmick for lazy people. However account security is very important. Much like everything here though, gimmicks rule, actual functionality is under the "soon" moniker.

BKGaming: So do you like have to complain and be negative about everything? If you don't like it then don't use it. We don't need your play by play commentary about how clients and features like this are gimmicks for lazy people.
If they fixed the important parts rather than releasing these gimmicky nonsense, then I would have less to moan about wouldn't I.
avatar
vicklemos: Now Impaler and so many others gotta say "Nothing for me in this 200+ games sale, GOG Wallet ® safe" and stuff like that ;P
avatar
Vythonaut: Thank GOG, "purchased funds will never expire". :P
Good call! :)

No because you would still find something to moan about. It's in your nature. Anything mainstream or popular among the industry you like to complain about.

amrit9037: I wish we will able to see GOG wallet codes soon.
Nothing can beat a GOG wallet gift code for DRM-free goodness as a Birthday Gift.
Why not just giving cash in a nice envelope together with a beautiful birthday card (assuming you can't be bothered to get/make a good birthday gift in the 1st place)? Gift cards/codes are really a shitty present for someone you care about.
On the other hand, they make perfect gifts for someone you love to annoy -- especially if the gift card/code is for a shop the birthday child can't stand... d-:

Well, not my fault the industry is full of gimmicky nonsense. I complain principally about Galaxy - which is totally unnecessary, and delays things coming here because of "Galaxy Integration needed" - hence it is very bad. This wallet - storing actual value on your account = more hackers, loss of actual currency = bad, so I am valid to complain about it. 2step athentication, means those of us who clear cookies have to login 2step each time = it is broken = valid to complain about it. Forum software, search/rep etc are all broken = valid to complain about. Rather than defend every gimmick they come out with, not lets try to fix those?
What a cool feature! And just when I got a lot of moneyz for refunding No Man's Sky, too. :P At least I can rest assured these funds won't expire in a year, like I was warned they would. ;)

Barefoot_Monkey: - give a spending allowance to a dependant
Also this could be the first step to being able to gift GOG Codes that aren't bound to a game but to a certain amount of money.

rtcvb32: Must... refrain... til next... big... sale...

Although, I'll also hold off using the new wallet system for about 2 weeks while others test it and see how well it works. I'll be happy to hear if it works fairly flawlessly, then put $25-$100 in for all purchases for the remainder of the year.
In all likelihood you have already a wallet for some time.
And you probably used it already, too -- by getting and spending store credit...
The thing that's new is that you can purchase (and gift?) store credit now, which wasn't possible before, iirc...

Oh wait, there's information that my funds WILL expire on 17th of August 2017. :( Well, whatever, I'll definitely spend everything by then, but I thought funds in the wallet now don't expire?

Taro94: but I thought funds in the wallet now don't expire?
Purchased funds shouldn't expire, store credit still will.

Right, I guess that's the case.
Bummer, thought I could cheat the system, hehe. :P

And you just proved my point....

Well, I think both of you are right to en extent.
On one hand, it's valid to complain about something that could work better. No harm done here, quite the opposite, pointing out what can be improved is good.
On the other, nightcrawler sees only negative sides of everything. To be fair, it must be said that while Galaxy might delay something, it provides an organized library of your GOG titles and automatic updates. 2-step authentication might not work that good if you clear cookies, but not everyone does, so it's a very useful feature for them. GOG Wallet might increase the risk of account hacks, but it makes buying and organizing your funds easier, etc, etc.

So, both sides have merit, I think. Now make a sign of peace. :P

It's no longer called store credit; it's Wallet funds. Get on with the times. :P
Won't be using this particular feature but I can see how it would be a great thing for different sorts of people with different sorts of limited payment options and budgets.
