They told him to install 'er, but he is not inclined in doing such a thing as his knowledge of 'er is very limited. He sent 'er some letters and bought 'er roses and shit, but she just keeps ignoring him. It's kind of sad really.

nancycarleo: I just want to d/l my games. Do I need to download an installer? am I too old for this?
The answer to your questions may be yes or no, depending what exactly you are talking about.

If you mean you don't want to download your game and separately install it (two step process, download and install), then currently yes you need to download the installer file(s) for the game you want to install on your PC. However, GOG Galaxy client is supposed to change that, then you don't necessarily need to download the game installer (which you install yourself), albeit you still have that option, which is what many of us prefer.

If you meant you don't want to use any downloader/installer client (which you first need to install on your PC in order to get your games, like e.g. the Steam client), then the answer is no, you don't have to do that. You can download your GOG games with your web browser without using any client software (other than that browser of course). Then you just install your downloaded game, just like you'd install any PC Windows software (e.g. Firefox, Steam client, Avira Antivirus etc. etc. etc.).

When the GOG Galaxy client is eventually launched, you should have both options:

- One-step download&install procedure (like with e.g. Steam)

- Download the standalone game installer, and install it yourself as you'd install any normal Windows software. This is in case you want archive the game installers, or want to transfer and install the game on another PC which has poor or no internet connectivity at the time of the install.
