Wreck it Rad!

Rad Rodgers: World One, an offbeat platformer about a mischievous boy who gets sucked inside the world of videogames, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 15% launch discount.

We've all been there: after an exhausting night of trying to beat your favorite videogame, you doze off and end up waking inside the gameworld. That's Rad! And he's not alone - his old console Dusty is here with him, providing snarky commentary, platforming assistance, and some pretty nifty weapons. Just in time, too, because as Rad soon finds out, this lush jungle world is slowly succumbing to a sinister corruption and it's up to him and his console buddy to blast away the baddies and save the day. Just like old times!

Rad Rodgers is planned as a series of standalone “Worlds”, with new Worlds yet to be announced!
Rad Rodgers: World One is the first of these instalments – set to feature an Overworld hub, 7 levels, and as much as 4-6 hours of old-school platforming once released. While “In Development", Rad Rodgers: World One will be receiving weekly content updates up until its planned release on December 1.

Embark on a wild platforming adventure with a boy and his favorite sentient console in Rad Rodgers: World One, DRM-free on GOG.com!
The 15% discount will last until December 1st, 5:59 PM UTC.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Foxhack: This game has horrible writing.
That's right. Because we play platformers for their excellent stories and dialog! =P

Tyrrhia: Anyway, one question: it's currently titled World One; will it change to World Two when the second world is released and simply Rad Rodgers when the game is complete?
I'm getting the impression they'll be selling the different "worlds" separately.

Eww. I hope you're wrong. :P
That description made me want to play "Heart of Darkness"...

Having watched the trailer, this game is clearly nothing like HoD, which is a shame.

So... I think I'll just go and play "Heart of Darkness" :)

(Hey GOG? Not having https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/heart_of_darkness here is shameful!)

Dray2k: Remember Ruff N' Tumble?

I'm still waiting, but its good that this game is made, just for those who didn't/couldn't play the classic.
Yeah, it does look like a remake of sorts. The character looks the same, he has the same guns, there is a division into different worlds. One thing that puts me off is indeedits clear infantility. In the original we had no real plot to speak of and maybe it'd be better if it stayed that way, if we are to have such a thing as in the trailer.

This game seems similar to RUFF 'N' TUMBLE that I was gaming on Amiga 600 fifteen years ago.

I'm trying to decide whether the writing is intentionally bad, as a sort of homage to the 90's/Bubsy-type characters. It probably doesn't matter; I don't think I could put up with an entire game's worth of that, whether it's meant as a joke or not. Which is a shame, because it looks fun.

Matewis: Looks cool and it's awesome to have this concept explored again: a young kid with crazy gadgets in an alien world. Though above all I'd like to see a proper Commander Keen Reboot someday, and perhaps an HD re-release of Heart of Darkness.
Oh that would be awesome.
Looks exactly like Ruff'n'tumble - an Amiga game.

What happened to "shame on you!"?

And yes, I would like a new version of Ruff'n'tumble , one of Amigas best action platforms.
Looks pretty decent, but I'll wait til it's a finished product.
It did interest me, just not enough that I'd instabuy while blowing so much money at the sale, or now that I'm overspent. Besides, I'd have so many games ahead of this one in the backlog that I wouldn't get to play it while in development. So why would I grab it now?

That's a surprising statement coming from you. Let's hope it's a good game, regardless of InDev state. Time (and reviews) will tell.
+1 to you

Nice. Devs decided to give keys to all backers now, no matter if they pledged for beta access or not. :)

yeah. I was initially waverying between paying $10 (which is more than my pledge level) for beta and not-even if it was just a few weeks worth in which case, it's useless. Now I don't got to bother
