ValamirCleaver: Another thread that more or less says "I want GOG to be more like Steam"...
I would prefer GOG to use their resources to continue to offer more DRM free games that are downloadable and installable & patchable offline without mandating the use of a proprietary client instead of wasting these resources reinventing the wheel (chat) for the "umpteenth" time.
You want text chat? is a FOSS, multi-platform instant messaging client; based on libpurple that has support for many instant messaging protocols; allowing the user to simultaneously log into various services; such as [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pidgin_%28software%29#Supported_protocols]IRC, Windows Live Messenger AKA MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, et cetera...
You want voice chat? Take a pick...
I fail to understand how being a to trash talk another player in real time makes a gameplay better...
ValamirCleaver: I find slides 7 & 8 very telling...
Be a use people like to have an easy life? Why have umpteen different clients when one can do everything? Also, how do you find people playing Call Of Redoing 17 on your multiple chat client?I would prefer GOG to use their resources to continue to offer more DRM free games that are downloadable and installable & patchable offline without mandating the use of a proprietary client instead of wasting these resources reinventing the wheel (chat) for the "umpteenth" time.

amok: Go back to your 'social media' pretend gaming platforms and let us real gamers play as games are intended to be played (i.e.. how we dictate).
ValamirCleaver: As I posted above, multi-protocol chat clients have existed for about 20 years, why reinvent the wheel yet again?...
