It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

nightcraw1er.488: Any stats on those that wouldn't mind if drm was here also? Majority anything doesn't necessarily make it good.
GOG have never polled on whether or not they should abandon the DRM free. I suspect mainly because they use these polls to justify their next move. The DLC one was pathetic, they actually went with the question that "suggested" DLC, rather than the direct answer that was "No".

Slides 7, 8 and 10. Slide 8 in particular.

Thanks, so 50/50 and 30/70 against. Interesting, I suspect step one would be to allow mmo's, that would immediately need internet connection by its very nature. Oh well, we will see. One thing I would agree with is that forum needs updating, don't use chat so cant say.

amok: Indeed and for those who want to have friends interactions - make it as difficult as possible to add friends, and as cumbersome as possible to use any such functionalities. Because, after all, they can just go back to Steam. Who needs them anyway. Splitters!

nightcraw1er.488: No, they could use facebook, twitter or one of the other applications directly for it, they are social media, not Doom or other games.
I agree. Get those people out of here! They should learn to play as we do, not like they want. Go back to your 'social media' pretend gaming platforms and let us real gamers play as games are intended to be played (i.e.. how we dictate). Now, shoo, back to your steam! Splitter!

I think GOG should become more like twitch. KappaGOGBear

nightcraw1er.488: Good for you, I will leave you to push everyone into client use crusade.
You must be confused. OP uses Galaxy, I use Galaxy. Therefor no pushing needed. I'm for options and what GOG is giving us is options. You don't want to use Galaxy. Great. We don't need to hear about why you feel it's horrible every time Galaxy is brought up.

These things, they take time. GOG is always trying to find people to hire. There are 20+ openings, 6 or so for Galaxy: https://www.gog.com/work#/gog_mentality

Another thread that more or less says "I want GOG to be more like Steam"...

I would prefer GOG to use their resources to continue to offer more DRM free games that are downloadable and installable & patchable offline without mandating the use of a proprietary client instead of wasting these resources reinventing the wheel (chat) for the "umpteenth" time.

You want text chat? is a FOSS, multi-platform instant messaging client; based on libpurple that has support for many instant messaging protocols; allowing the user to simultaneously log into various services; such as [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pidgin_%28software%29#Supported_protocols]IRC, Windows Live Messenger AKA MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, et cetera...

You want voice chat? Take a pick...

I fail to understand how being a to trash talk another player in real time makes a gameplay better...

I find slides 7 & 8 very telling...

As I posted above, multi-protocol chat clients have existed for about 20 years, why reinvent the wheel yet again?...

1. Make adding friends easier and make playing games in GoG more noticeable to your friends?
2. Add chat overlay to games?
3. Growing Community forums to be more active for each game? ....
I like all of these things. Hopefully GOG finds the ability and will to realize them.

For keeping in touch, maybe GOG should just interact stronger with social networks (facebook, twitter, ...).

Doing what they do already is not losing resources, that's stagnating - and stagnation is not good for business, to my understanding anyway.

Because a protocol doesn't automatically gather a community around itself. I can push Jabber up my colleague's noses all I want, but I don't have to, because I can already find them all on LinkedIn. I can try to get all of my friends on TeamSpeak for gaming, but I don't have to, they all already have Steam installed. Well, if I want to get the 'old group' together, I would not have to lift a finger if Galaxy had proper communication integrated - as it stands, I got two more people on Steam 'cause it's easy to use. Besides, GOG doesn't have to reinvent anything whatsoever - you said it yourself, there's more than enough communication protocols ready to be taken advantage of, by GOG or anyone else.
The chat is one of the great features in steam....
I would like to see more of a profile then that way i could search for people as well and invite them or if i have to report them as well
