Hi. bought the witcher 3 on gog. Downloaded the game from gog site(7\7part) and played. Just started galaxy to see if some patch for this "OPTIONAL CLIENT" are come out. Galaxy automatically added The Witcher 3 in the game list.....

From this moment, all time who i started the game from desktop icon, galaxy start!!! This is NON MY CHOICE!! This galaxy is OPTIONAL or not? If is optional, why if now i wanna play The witcher 3 galaxy opens automatically forcing me to keep it open to play the witcher 3?

How can i do for play TW3 without galaxy now?
GoG Galaxy is optional.

Johnathanamz: GoG Galaxy is optional.
So why if i try play The witcher 3 from desktop icon galaxy start.
its optional
gog just really wants you to use it

you can close it and uninstall it if you want and the witcher 3 will still be there

I can agree that this is a bit annoying, and I would not want such a behaviour myself. Find the folder where The Witcher 3 is installed, somewhere within that, you will find an executable to launch the game, make a shortcut to that and place wherever you wish.

I was playing TW3 yesterday fine without Galaxy even installed, so yes it is optional.

Apparently your problem is that since you chose to run Galaxy, your TW3 installation was "reformatted" into Galaxy version, which then by default apparently launches Galaxy automatically, which kinda makes sense I guess. I find it odd though if this happened automatically, and you didn't have to import the non-Galaxy installation to Galaxy.

However, reading elsewhere, apparently you can run also the Galaxy version without the client, by running the TW3 executable directly, somewhere in the depths of your filesystem. I don't know about that, I haven't played the Galaxy version.

Galaxy is totally optional. Your options are either to use it or to not play your GOG games.

I doubt that. Just name the one you want to use "The Witcher 3 (USE THIS).lnk" or something else that's different from the name Galaxy sets. There should also be an option in Galaxy (somewhere, though I don't know where as I don't use it myself) to not create a desktop icon, and thus not replace the one you made.

Its completely optional.
Its just a tool.
It's optional. I'm playing The Witcher 3 entirely without it.

Weak trolling. As I said already, the non-Galaxy version works just fine. Galaxy isn't even installed on that PC. I installed it completely with the separate installers, including the free DLCs.

Plus, even the Galaxy version can be run without the client.

Yep, just run or create a shortcut to:

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe

Erase galaxy.dll from the game folder and the game will start without galaxy client. That's basically the file making problems with the game. Just to be sure backup the file in case anything goes wrong.

GoG is certainly not making many friends with their new client. Even if optional they pushing it on to customers, and is the only method of installing the game listed in the manual. Especially for a client still in beta to push this onto their customers shows a bit of disregard.

But still better than DRM, at this stage at least, but not looking forward to the future with GoG and Galaxy.
