LaithArkham: This is cool... but I'd rather see a Warcraft 2 remake :P
This. I loved Warcraft 2 to bits, but I never cared much for Warcraft 3.

A decent Warcraft 2 remake would be most welcome.

Uhm, whut? Do you mean "why didn't I like Warcraft 3"?

Several reasons. I don't like the hero system, I didn't like the switch from beautiful 2D graphics to really crappy 3D graphics, and several of the missions are piss-poorly designed. They are heavily scripted, which is not in itself a bad thing, but the way they are scripted is. Basically, the only way to complete them (at least for me) is to play them over and over again until I know the scripted events by heart. "Okay, next attack will be over here, so I'd better move my defenders to that spot, so my base isn't overrun." That sort of thing.

Hehe, you took a while to answer, so I edited my previous post instead. See that for the explanation.

I understand the Hero Units, The can be ridiculously OP, Like the Orc Blademaster's Bladestorm.

It's not so much that. It's more that the game couldn't seem to be able to decide whether it wanted to be an RTS or an RPG. Having the occasional hero unit as part of a mission is fine, as long as it isn't all the time, but having to babysit hero units (finding equipment, levelling up, etc.) throughout the entire game whilst doing all the normal RTS stuff is just annoying to me.

For the multiplayer portion yes I understand, for the single player it seems to work because of its scripted nature, for example the Hero can level up once every mission.

As to the graphics lttile did you know the fact the game is in 3D instead of 2D sprites is for better movement of the units. Controlling units in Starcraft and Warcraft 1 and 2 felt rigid and tile based. In Warcraft 3 they can move almost any area freely without feeling rigid.

I don't really care. I think movement is fine in WC2 and SC1. On the other hand, I think the extreme-low-poly models of early 3D games like WC3 are an eyesore, and take much away from the immersion in the game.

Well isn't that what this mod is going to help with? Have you seen the tralier, it looks alot more pleasing to the eye.

Hehe, no, I haven't, but as I said earlier, that is not the only thing by far I have against WC3 ;-)

Updated graphics or not, I still won't like it.

I suspect that has to do with WC3's development itself. I still remember the early alpha and pre-alpha screenshots and info they released, way back in the day -- it seemed a lot more of an RPG-like game early on, like one where you'd have a small "army" (party) most of the time, occasionally bolstered by more forces for larger missions. Then they swung back and made it more RTS-like later on in development, but still retained some of the RPG elements.

So they were originally gonna be an Tactical RPG like Game?
If only they'd make a Warcraft II - 20th Anniversary Edition, just like they did with The Settlers II - 10th Anniversary Edition. I would play the shit out of that.
