After finding GOG as my initial source of digital gaming goodness (yes, beforehand, I had no interest in Steam or DRM, so was a physical-disc only gamer), I later moved on to buying bundles. It's tough, because most bundle sites out there are 100% Steam, but one site I came to like was Groupees. They frequently offer decent bundles of DRM-free games for dirt cheap. (And some... not-so-stellar bundles as well, I admit.)

They also offer bundles of music and comics and other things... and I would complain all the time that there was never any good music.

So they made me prove I could do a better job.

I kept complaining about the lack of metal, and told 'em I could do a better job. One of the admins gave me his e-mail address, I sent a proposal, and the rest is history. Or will be. :)

I'm very fortunate. I put together a bundle made up entirely of bands I am personally passionate about. Every single band in the bundle was hand-picked by me as music that I truly love, and is relevant and brings something unique and incredible to the table. There is zero filler here - every band is tremendous.

And yes, meyow, it's that noise stuff. ;) You should try it though - you never know what will move you!

What kind of process was it to get the bands on board? Or did Groupees handle that part? (Sorry if it's a stupid question, no idea how all of this works.)

No preview - it's a blind pre-order until tomorrow, when the bundle officially goes live, and then you can see all the contents.

No, I did all the work. From band contacting, negotiation, contracting, prize collection and shipment, bundle design and upload - it's the partner's job to do pretty much everything. The only thing I didn't do was the artwork as Groupees handles the site design. Death, thrash, folk, prog, black, gothic, ambient, tech... that about covers it. :) Couldn't find a power metal band worth a crap.

Great. Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of fun. Thanks for the heads up. I'm interested enough that I paid $1. Even if there's nothing I like there, that's not a big loss, but I'll probably find something worth listening to at least once in there.
