Obviously it's phenomenal that we finally get more Star Wars/LucasArts games and I hope everyone interested certainly ponies up for what they want (especially if they voted for the games on the wishlist), but however unlikely it is we get what is missing, I would at least like to be made aware of what we are missing that's important.

Of the last releases, many people seem to want the following:

* TIE Fighter '95 CD-ROM version
* X-Wing '94 CD-ROM version
* Secret of Monkey Island (original)

Of these releases, things seem pretty darn good, but are we missing the Advanced Tactical Missions, and is that why http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/xwing_vs_tie_fighter_complete_bundle has not been "completed"? (I really think GOG needs new statuses for the wishlist, like "partially completed" in green and hovering over it explains why it is not fully completed.)
Last week, a good friend of mine opened a bottle of 1968 Dom Perignon. I had to snort haughtily as he served it in a flute with 3mm glass walls instead of 2mm. Ruined the entire evening.

Sorry, had to do a bit of good natured teasing (at least I hope it came off that way - I apologize in advance if it sounded downright mean!).

Naw it's fine, made me smile. I'm just disappointed nobody has given me any real info here. ;-)
Aren't we missing the nude versions of Tomb Raider?

While not quite "real" yet, because I gave snark before I can pass on some info I read (into) from the Grim Fandango release next week. It seems to suggest that the original version won't be released, because the 26 January Remaster will include options for the original graphics and controls.

Not that I've seen so far, but there is always the possibility.

And anywho...

Going to parrot what others have said before: Zak McKracken on the FM Towns would be a great experiment on GOG's part. The hardest step to complete, that of contacting and/or licensing an emulator like Unz in order to provide an emulator standalone, wouldn't be too much of an issue in theory, unless the author's simply unavailable for contact.
I am sure we would've heard something already within 20 minutes if we actually were missing anything definitive :)

I hadn't even heard about the "Advanced Tactical Missions", and now I know why:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/advanced-tactical-missions-add-on-levels-for-x-wing-vs-tie-fight

It was an unofficial expansion pack, by a different publisher. I am not surprised at all it wasn't included in this pack or the deal with Disney/LucasArts, and frankly I didn't really expect it either. I usually just want the official expansion packs and DLCs with my game, and that's enough.

Of course it would certainly be nice to have even more (unofficial) content, but I personally consider this pack already complete.

EDIT: Unless LucasArts later adopted that expansion pack, making it official and maybe even re-releasing a new XvT bundle including it. I don't find such bundle in Mobygames though:

http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/star-wars-x-wing-tie-fighter-series

In the year 2000 LucasArts apparently re-released a bundle of XvT including the official Balance of Power expansion pack, but that also seems to lack the "Advanced Tactical Missions".

Ugh, the barbarian!
haha no offence but can't people just be happy with what we have?! I don't understand the need to have every single version of a game, just seems a bit excessive. I can understand from a nostalgia point of view but it's probably not very practical from GOG's point of view.

At least for the X-Wing and TIE-Fighter cases there are very good reasons for the demand: http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_tie_fighter_special_edition/wheres_the_collectors_cdrom_1995

I think that the emulation is probably too hard to license, especially just for one game. But this could well happen with ScummVM, couldn't it? (ScummVM just says that FM-TOWNS Kanji version requires the FM-TOWNS Font ROM. I assume it means that there is a non-Kanji version that doesn't? I sure hope so, as I have no skills in Japanese.)

I have Zak McKracken for C64 and Amiga, but the FM Towns version has been too hard to get a hold of. I would love to see it here, and would certainly buy it.
Having said that, my concern mainly is that do any of these games have issues running with 3D HW acceleration on modern GPUs, or do they run only with software renderer? I recall hearing these later X-Wing and Tie Fighter games have issues with modern 3D accelerators? Then again, I guess that's why I have a couple of retro-gaming PCs as a backup...
