PaterAlf: It is, but maybe for a reason. Today was the first time that I had to do the reCAPTCHA to login. Before that was only neccessary to redeem gifts. Maybe GOG introduced it, because of the reported hacking attempts of many user accounts?
Yes true. And as I'm typing this two threads below are locked necroed ones. So we'll see in a few seconds..........
There was a stupid one I got that had one bigger picture divided up into grid squares, instructing to select all the grid squares with a street sign. So uhh, does that include the pole below it, or just the top part... stupid stupid stupid. Well my selection turned out to be wrong, and then it switched to the now-common multi-picture storefront crap (which are so low-res you can barely make out the photos, or should I say 'pixels').

I prefer an arithmetic question, I need to work on my math. Or a jigsaw puzzle. Anyway, I spend too much time here.

How can you even run into those things in HB? It seems to me there is an overabundance of purchases on your end and HB doesn't like how much green is turning in, the only time I am ever affected and fall onto that logic is on facebook where I apparently befriend too many people and like too many posts (it's harsh, the life of a shitposter).
Just ran into this whilst attempting to log in. Recaptcha sucks.

But reCAPTCHA hasn't stopped being terrible, so the thread deserves to live on.

KoreaBeat: I'm sure everyone here has seen this by now... in order to log in or make a purchase at a site, you have to pick out which images out of a group of pictures contain street signs or pizza... so you do, and it rejects your selection. Come on, I know what a freaking pizza looks like! I definitely did not overlook an image containing a pizza! Humble Bundle has been the worst so far, it takes me probably 10 tries on average until the damn thing admits that I am human.

Really hoping this never comes to GOG.
Yeah, I'm glad GOG finally added reCaptchas to the site like this, the added security and deterrent to bots is definitely welcome and helps keep the service running smoother with less scammers and spammers. I like the storefront and street sign ones the best so far, but I have not seen any pizza ones! I feel that GOG is holding out on me on the pizza side of things!

If anyone decides to request pizza reCaptcha on the GOG wishlist, please post the URL so I can cast my vote also!

Pizza reCAPTCHAs were all the rage about a year ago, when the post was made. Now it's mostly storefronts and street signs, and maybe bodies of water or mountains, though much more rare.

I got one for trees and one for construction vehicles... but mostly storefronts, billboards and signs seem to be the favourites.

Not sure if I find it more or less annoying than the traditional bendy letters and numbers ones.. I think less as some of those can be ridiculously difficult to decipher, particularly if you have to do it five times as it usually shows up because you've forgotten your password for a site you hardly use and it takes you 15 attempts to log in...

Yeah, that's all I see. I feel left out on the pizza front. Maybe GOG will add some kind of "Pizza clicker" game in the future to atone for this. :)

Yeah, I hate those letter/number/word captchas. They're always so contorted that at least one or more characters is not completely resolvable and I get it wrong over and over again, or have to request another. Plus, they tend to be much easier for AI analysis to detect anyway. They drive me nuts.

I like the visual ones better as there is a lot more variety shown compared to the text ones, so that makes it more difficult on the AI side, but they're easier to visualize to humans for the most part. They're not perfect either though as someone pointed out with the street signs, do you include the post? What if a single line or two of pixels on the top of a sign extends into the square above it? You just have to guess more or less and I think captchas are based on the majority rules rather than something statically determined on the server end by a human, so they're best answered in the context of "What do I think MOST people would respond to this situation" than to think too hard about it. Worst case is it gets you to answer an extra 1 or 2 to move on.

I don't mind captchas for purchases or key redemptions as the added security is understandable and beneficial. If they were mandatory on every single login every single time that would drive me nuts though. I'd probably visit a site like that only when I really really wanted/needed to rather than out of whimsy. :)

Actually, it has. Google is employing machine learning, so the platform has validly improved.
Anyone that invents any form of captcha, needs to be murdered in an extremely painful & embarrassing manner.
Same goes for any site that uses them & those that do lose any chance of getting any pennies from me.

GOG came close a while back, when load of us kept getting logged out & I had to turn off addons to unblock anything googlesque, just so that I could fill in the damn thing to log in.

Think it was indiegala that had that retarded image "click the shop fronts" only to show a load of tiny/blurry images that no one could tell wtf was what.

Tried, failed, next lot it said click the street signs (there was one, do I click the post holding the sign too!?!?).

Several images later I magically got one right. It then popped up a new requester asking me to copy/paste the link from one box into another.

Did that, it finally let me go to checkout by which time I thought "fuck this shit!" & closed the tab, never to return.

I'm starting to miss shopping for physical copies...

Are you a really bad spambot AI, or are you really bad at basic picture recognition? Did reCAPTCHA shoot your dog? Are you perchance, built by Dr. Light, Dr. Wily, Dr. Gero, Doctor Tenma, Professor Ochanomizu, Dr. Eggman, or the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation?

I just want to know what the hell was GOG thinking? I'm nearly struggling to log in now. There's no need for all of this. If you're not smart enough to change your password once in awhile? I really don't think you have any business owning a computer, a phone, or even a home. Do you leave your home unlocked when you go to sleep? This is pure nuts!
Just logged in at the storefront where I was forced to identify storefronts first. 2-factor authentemailianation doesn't suffice, for those who opt in for it? What's next, guessing animal noises?
