-Insomnia Promos:
Blood fresh supply
Van Helsing
Disciples 2
Field of glory 2
Hitman blood money

-Summer Sales
Blake Stone aliens of gold
Blake Stone planet strike
Judge Dredd
Fictorum

Due to the Insomnia Promos I ended up buying more games than I intended to (my backlog is really happy). And so, this Summer Sale has been much more painful for my wallet than the last big sales in which I didn´t buy much.

And for those like me with sleeping disorders, the mix of slight predictability and long enough time to grab the games is a blessing. It is a good balance between (again) predictability and excitement to discover what comes next.

paladin181: I can't keep logging in all day everyday just to see some pretty meh discounts on games I have nearly no interest in.
For whoever is not aware, over in the announcement thread, helpo1 has been posting the upcoming game (along with past games and copies sold).

That's good to know. I had been worried that I'd missed some good deals but now I see that I have not. Nothing so far has really tempted me to pull the trigger.

idbeholdME: Van Helsing offers you the option of not respawning enemies when you save and exit, allowing the game to be played more like Diablo 1 than the usual ARPGs. [...]
I take it that that's a fairly common mechanic among modern "DIablo II-clone" ARPGs? Because that's something that infuriated me about Grim Dawn -- not only does it do the "auto-save upon quitting; no manual saving" bullshit (which, sadly, seems to be a common thing in modern ARPGs), but it both resets your character back to the hub/safe haven (which, like the previous point, there really isn't any excuse for), and resets all encounters and restocks all chests/other loot containers (which, for a game that gets promoted a lot as having great lore/world-building, is incredibly immersion-breaking, not to mention feeling cheap and deeply unsatisfying to me). Between that and the situationally poor performance (the opening cinematic video shouldn't look like a slideshow on a computer that meets min specs!), I had to stop playing. I didn't pay much for it (only got the base game, and at 80% discount, thank God), but I was still very disappointed. [/off-topic rant]

paladin181: Any of the games I'd want to buy, I already did. Sooooo.... Not too well. If there was one I wanted to buy and don't have, I missed it. I can't keep logging in all day everyday just to see some pretty meh discounts on games I have nearly no interest in.
As has been pointed out elsewhere before, you'd really only need to check in twice per day, about twelve hours apart, as long as those two points are right around times when the deal changes. (Depending on your exact time zone and the hours you normally keep, It might still be infeasible to catch both opposing times.)
But, as has also been pointed out, you're not missing a whole lot by not doing so. :P

It's not "fairly common". It's the default. An ARPG not behaving like that is an exception.

Off the top of my head, only Diablo 1, Van Helsing and Space Hack let the enemies stay dead after you save and quit. And in Van Helsing, it's an option you have to enable.

In Sacred 1, you can save (and load) anywhere, but enemies still respawn. Not in your immediate vicinity, but once you go far enough from a cleared area.

No it's not. Enemies staying dead is the default in Van Helsing. To make them respawn is an option that the player has to enable.

disappointed GOG are doing this tbh and it shouldnt be something you guys encourage. it literally punishes people who dont sit on the computer all day hoping for a better deal.
Just picked up Unreal Tournament 2004 so far, I wanted other games but already made other purchases during the sale.

I didn't know that, thanks. Moved Diablo and Van Helsing up in my backlog.

You don't have to "sit on the computer all day". You can come visit once every 12 hours, check the current and next deal in this thread, see if any interests you (probably not), and go do other things.

The game changes once every 6 hours or when stock is gone. Meaning you have a short time frame to get that game on the deeper discount. What if i buy a game i dont think will go on flash sale, then i go work for 9 hours and missed it? It punishes those that dont have the time to wait around all day.

1) No, only every 6 hours, not when the stock is gone.

2) While a game does change every 6 hours, we always also know what the next one will be (the list is maintained by helpo1 here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/keep_your_eyes_wide_open_and_get_the_best_deals_during_our_insomnia_promo_a77de, not in this thread, as I had mistakenly written above), so checking every 12 hours is good enough.

PaterAlf: Opus Magnum
Great game, good choice!

matterbandit: In the end, that one game I purchased I did so by challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone as far as game genres go:
Opus Magnum! I watched the gameplay trailer and found it very hypnotic. :) And I found it's steampunk aesthetic appealing too. Hope I purchased a fun game.
Yes, you did! :)

Regarding the sale – I've grabbed:

– awesome Freebies!
– from Insomnia: Van Helsing (but there were a few really great discounts, but for already owned games)
– Where The Water Tastes Like Wine (intriguing)
– Urban Trial Freestyle, Normality, Litil Divil (some of these owned elsewhere)
– and some ridiculously cheap classics from Apogee

Definitely the best (and the most expensive) deals were the free ones :D – Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Venetica and Beautiful Desolation, all from around my wishlist. Thanks, GOG!

Thanks for clarifying. It's been too long since I played so I forgot what the default was.

I hardly think it's challenging to check back, considering how ubiquitous smartphones are. Good for GOG for trying to drive more traffic to the main page and rekindle a type of sale old users were fond of. Hopefully they'll refine it further in the future.
