Gnostic: Cats usually don't like electronics.
Katt's not a cat though, he's obviously a katt.
I refuse to be held responsible for this derail.

kroc: I am concerned that GOG is profiting from the work of SCUMMVM, DOSBox etc, but not contributing back. If they want to see a future for good old games, there needs to be investment & support for emulators, source ports and so forth.
I'd like to see them contribute too, but I think nowadays they view themselves more as a store comparable to Steam rather than a place that comes up with complex fixes for games (though obviously they do still have good quality control). For instance there are a few popular games like Populous 3 that are not supported past Windows 7, and GOG is either unable to add (presumably this), or unwilling to invest the time in, Windows 8+ support.

Personally I think the future lies with spiritual successors. Populous 3 might not work in the future, but why not an indie game very much like Populous 3? I think Interstate 76 could use a good spiritual successor now.
just bought a breadbin c64, don't see any problem with what I'll play in the next 10 years XD

Are you suggesting we get a medium and contact the dead just to play games?

It's been going on for a while. Complex workarounds are pretty much all we've got.

For TR1 in widescreen:

For using the gamepad:

I like Xpadder. Other people like Joy 2 key.

Always scan everything you download. I use virustotal (upload files and get them scanned by 50+ different anti-virus sofware programs).

Why should they? Windows 8 is just terrible, the worst thing for PC (maybe it has some merits on mobile) ever since Vista (which was the worst ever since Me - which was just about as good as having a Maleficent Virus run loose on your hardware).
If possible, they should try to make stuff work on 10, but if not, there really shouldn't be ANY reason for a PC user to run anything but 7.

BlackThorny: Why should they?
Because they might get more sales/money if people see it's officially supported on Windows 8.

"Anything that happens, happens.
Anything that, in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen.
Anything that, in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again.
It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order, though."

As I always say, somehow we'll manage, we're still able to run games created over 28 years ago and besides, nothing is forever.

For the way I see it: DOSBox, WinUAE (Amiga), Virtual Machines, Wine on Linux...etc, there are options. ;)
Once ReactOS and Wine get out of the bog, that'll probably help things along on the compatibility front.

One source suggests the bog is in management.
