I refuse to be held responsible for this derail.

Personally I think the future lies with spiritual successors. Populous 3 might not work in the future, but why not an indie game very much like Populous 3? I think Interstate 76 could use a good spiritual successor now.

It's been going on for a while. Complex workarounds are pretty much all we've got.

For TR1 in widescreen:
http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/109-old-games-widescreen-patch/

For using the gamepad:

I like Xpadder. Other people like Joy 2 key.

Always scan everything you download. I use virustotal (upload files and get them scanned by 50+ different anti-virus sofware programs).

If possible, they should try to make stuff work on 10, but if not, there really shouldn't be ANY reason for a PC user to run anything but 7.

It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order, though."

As I always say, somehow we'll manage, we're still able to run games created over 28 years ago and besides, nothing is forever.

For the way I see it: DOSBox, WinUAE (Amiga), Virtual Machines, Wine on Linux...etc, there are options. ;)

Once ReactOS and Wine get out of the bog, that'll probably help things along on the compatibility front.
