I am going to get Comcast 150Mbit within a week or so. Actually, installation was supposed to be done yesterday.

When I set up my Comcast service account, I noticed that my phone number had a typo - so I corrected it. Unfortunately, it seems like that this automatically canceled the installation appointment. Comcast should send a notification or have a warning about that.

Anyhow, my service is going to cost $80 for the internet portion of the bundle. My mother insists on having television and telephone to be bundled in, even though she doesn't use cable television to any appreciable extent. I offered to make arrangements for Ooma Telo, which would cost about $10 a month for telephone service - but she is an traditional bird. All in all, service costs about $150, before mystery fees and the promo period ends.
In last 2 years I had good connection and a good deal
fiber optic 250/75 for about 32e per month.

Two days ago I got a phonecall from Telenor, Telenor is very big company and major provider for many countries across Europe.

Agent who called me first asked me about my connection, am I satisfied how much I pay for it.... It was very strange since I don`t use Telenor services for my internet connection. But then something weird happened, she offered me a deal only fool would ignore....
I was about to hang up, cause I was satsified with my provider never had any problems for years, but then she said:

Mister, how about you come to us? We will give you 1 year free of any payment, we will give you double the speed you have now and next year you will have to pay only half of the price you are paying now...

At first I thought wait this a joke someone is making fun with me.... I mean such a good deal it is crazy good to be true...
I said ok I would if what you said is true... Then few more agents called me, they were really serious wanted to set a time for installing thier equipment. Finally today they finished everything I signed 2 year contract for really good speed
400 mbs donwload and 150 mbs upload
and in contract really says 1 year free of charge, second year 19 euro per month.

Honestly, i am very satisfied what I got, but I don`t need that much upload nor speed, from time to time I download few games, watch YT and that`s about it...

Right now, I`m feeling happy that deal is really good, I think I made a good choice. Still hard to believe i got such a good contract from Telenor, I mean who gives 1 year free nowdays?

I don`t know what is speed is countries across Europe and I would like to know, I can only assume it`s like mine or even better.

For the lowest tier, prices are about 6€ per month. Maximum download speed is either 480 Mbps or 500 Mbps. Maximum upload speed is 25 Mbps (yes, really), 240 Mbps, or 250 Mbps.
Higher tiers don't cost that much more, considering the speed cap increase. Prices are lower overall if you sign up for a package deal that includes cable TV. There might also be a small discount if you have a mobile phone subscription from the same company.
That's either cheapest or third cheapest in Europe, according to an undated BroadbandSearch.net blog post.
Or eighth cheapest worldwide and fifth cheapest in Europe, according to an Atlas and Boots blog post from April 8th 2022.

If you feel bad about your plan now, don't. I'm old enough to remember when 35$ + tax per month was a great deal for dial-up Internet access. You had to pay for the phone charges on top of that.
Nah I don`t feel bad but according to $6 my package is overpaid, but here prices can go only higher then I`m paying right now.
But Romania is in EU and Serbia is not, so that probably infuence prices too. I don`t know I only assume.

Yeah here they offer TV channels and mobilephone too, but I don`t use TV I don`t like to be brainwashed so I only paid for internet services, with TV it would go even higher $35-40 per month all depends.

But thank you for sharing information about prices in Romania. Most important thing is to be satisfied with what you got and I am satisfied, at least for now :)

Congrats! Telenor have had a long history of being the most expensive and slowest (in many ways) with the worst coverage in Norway. They rightfully earned the nickname "Telehor" and they did have monopoly here until NetCom was allowed to compete on the same level early-mid 90s.

Until recently I payed 600 NOK, about 60 euro/usd, for 50mbps fiber, without extra like TV, Netflix, mobile and/or Spotify in the package (not Telenor). Yes, that's how expensive it is in Norway in general. Can't change it as the provider who built the network owns it, but I'm just glad there are no cap through cable, only on 4G and through the old GSM network.

You are right, here also Telenor have monopoly because they are biggest provider here, I use thier mobile phone services for years, not the cheapest but servise is good, good coverage. Now about prices standard of life is different in Norway then it is in Serbia so I think it`s normal to be more expensive then in my country.

I don`t know will I be satisfied with optic I got from Telenor, since they installed it today, but so far is ok.. I got what I paid for. Oh BTW they change their name now they are Yettel, I don`t know why it`s still telenor but they are calling themselves Yettel in last few month.

Btw thx for info and experience you had with them :)

I'm in the United States and around here, it's mostly ATT and Comcast.

I'm using ATT, even though they are the more expensive of the two and currently play $161.18 USD for Internet and television service. My Internet speed is at 45mbps. TV is expanded basic, meaning everything except the premium channels. I also have DVR storage inside my receiver box, which means that it won't automatically erase itself like with cloud-based DVR storage.

Comcast claims it can give me faster internet... but they're also the gold standard for bad support, and their sales team really isn't much better. I dislike dealing with them enough that I wouldn't switch providers even if Comcast offered me a year of service for free.

If someone phones you to say they can give you cheaper Internet, it's not always worth it.

$161USD sounds expensive but you get lot of channels probably extra channels that are not included in basic setup.
45MBS is not much but unless you donwload lot of things everyday you dont need better. For example I don`t need speed I got, i donwload few games from time to time and that`s it, just wast of good speed, I don`t stream I barely download anything.
For example since i got new connection I download XCOM Enemy Within and who knows when I will download a new game, maybe in a few days... Sure I can download fast, but does it really matter if download takes 15 minutes or 3 minutes? It`s not too important. I think they are giving us good speed so they can sell us their services esier. They know noone is downloading that much.
Perhaps there are people who download all the time, but I`m not one of them.

I have a game friend from USA, he told me his upload is limited to 2TB per month after that he has to pay extra for every GB he download (if he`s telling the truth), he bought few big hard drives where he keeps his installed games, since he can`t download much... That story was so weird, i don`t know if it`s true or not, but that guy is ok, nice older guy from CA I doubt he would lie about it. When I told him that here everything is unlimited d and u he said man you are so lucky....

$161 is expensive, but I'm also in California. This is a state with a high cost of living, and incomes rarely ever keep up with it. It is entirely reasonable that if you know anyone from this state that they would be on an Internet plan with download limits as a means of cutting costs, especially if he only plays games offline. My cell phone, for example, is on a plan with data limits as I never go over it, which means that I really don't need that more expensive unlimited data plan. External USB hard drives can be pretty cheap depending on where you get them.
