Matewis: I'll make a note of it :)
Fortunately for me I don't know much of anything about Pokemon. I say 'fortunately' because it seems like the type of game that could easily turn into an awesome, albeit monolithic time-sink :P
What's Pokemon have to do with Fidget? She's a Nimbat from Dust: an Elysian tale...

Apologies! It just shows how little I know about those weird electricity spewing things. Not really a good excuse though: I've had Dust wishlisted for a while now :P

Tarm: I don't like clickfest rush RTS games. The W40K setting made me tolerate Dawn of War but not much more. Dawn of war 2 on the other hand I find quite fun. I'm not very good at it but I like to play it anyway. :)
Oh and Last Stand is ridiculously fun with friends. :D

I love the W40K setting so much that I can get into almost any game with it to various degrees. I tire quicker of them is about all so some I play more seldom and not that long.
Favourites are:
Final Liberation: Warhammer Epic 40,000
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate
Dawn of War 2 (Mainly the version with the most armies for variation.)

Might be others I forgot.

Yeah the tabletop is a whole other beast than the computer games.
Yeah, if you don't rush/harass early in a DoW game, then you're gonna have a bad time against even a half-decent player. A defensive playstyle doesn't really work at all in DoW.

My only complaint about DoW2 : not enough space hulk type missions! There's only like 2 or 3 such levels among all the games, and I found them the most fun of all :P Oh yes, and no single player Last Stand mode, which indeed looked like a ton of fun!

Chaos Gate looks phenomenal, but it has always bothered me that you only ever seem to fight against Chaos Space Marines. Especially given its XCom influence, where the aliens come in great variety, it's a pity that you don't get to square off against Eldar/Tyranids/Necrons and most of all, Orcs >:D

The enemies can be limited in W40K computer games it seems. Final liberation only have Orks for example. Strangely that have never been much of a problem for me. Usually I crave variation in my strategy games. Probably because I'm such a W40K fanboy. :)

Yeah the map variation in DoW 2 is a bit bad. They should have put more effort in that. Especially some space hulk ones as you say. It's such a iconic location.

Almost always I'm at the frontline crying for bots in like every game there is but I dunno if it'll work in Last Stand. They would probably only put you in trouble.
If you want to try it out someday send me a PM and we could play some over at Steam. Just one friend makes a big difference, doesn't have to be all friends. It's such a old game so there are surprisingly few griefers. N00bs there are no getting away from but they're not as irritating by far. :)
In real life, I'm bad with names but good with faces. Since in the internet, your name/nick is your face (your avatar is just like a representation), it is easier for me to remember nicks than avatars, yet, if there are both, somehow the avatar works as the face, yet I usually associate both of them.

Anyway, I think I remember most people I've "talked" with in the forums.
I have no f**king idea who any of you people are. Especially tinyE.

Oh, I might just do that :) I just have to get my desktop rig up and running again. My laptop already struggles a bit with the original DoW :P Perhaps I should do a fresh install and see how it runs though.
I can't really remember why I didn't try to play with some random people back then. Perhaps there isn't an open lobby or something? I used to play a lot of DoW:DC online, through a pretty populated multiplayer lobby.
So yeah, I do my best to make myself memorable by having a unforgettable nickname, and an avatar from a awesome, yet very underrated game :P The same goes for my previous avatar, but before that, I had one of the avatars from Thief. I have yet to come up with a fancy schmancy forum title though.
I hate names. Can't remeber them.

If you change your avatar I'm fucked.

While you're at it have a look at Space Marine too. Its Horde mode is also a lot of fun playing with friends. Much easier to unlock weapon perks with friends too. :)

Edit: Last Stand isn't easy by far and you start out with a very weak character so be prepared for that. Takes skill and patience to get good. It's a fun difficulty though. :)
Space Marine is about the same. Both are rewarding games to learn to play.

I used play quite a bit of Space Marine multiplayer back when it released, but only the regular deathmatch mode which is also great fun. Sadly, again only space marine vs chaos space marine :-\ Imagine how awesome a Space Marine type game would be with several 40K factions! Perhaps that is what Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade will be who knows?
I did try SM's horde mode briefly, but saw that it was more of a coop affair. I'm a bit worried about my laptop being able to run it though, and my current shitty 3g connection combined with the poor (sometimes erratic) ping will probably make such a 'precision-action' game quite difficult to play :P Strategy type games should still be ok though :)

Stop worrying dude it'll give you an ulster. You sound like a highschool student getting ready for a ball.
It's just multiplayer. Just give me a PM when you're ready for any of the W40K games. :)

Will do :) You should've seen me during my very first multiplayer 1vs1 game in Dawn of War 1. I was stressed out of my skull ! Got my ass handed to me too :P
