You heard that right! One of the most anticipated indie games of recent years, Hollow Knight: Silksong, launches on September 4th, just two weeks away!

Make sure it’s on your wishlist so you can grab it the moment it’s out.

We couldn’t be more excited!
Amazing to finally have release date, almost doesn't feel real.
Congratulations to Team Cherry!
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!! Count me in! :D
Oh really? Yawn!

Frustrated. Lately all the metroidvanias I'm most interested in, Ori ATWOTW, Bo Path of the Teal Lotus and Shantae Advance have skipped GOG releases, while all the stuff I don't care about like Shallow Knight, BlASSphemous and Pisslets find their way here.

Oh, really? Finally? :D
Count me in ;)
Okay, I got my last hit of "Let's Go Gambling" for Silksong.
One of the best metroidvanias.
I just feel a bit sad that it is soon pretty alone as more than half of all games of those genre do not find their way to GOG anymore.

At least it is not hard to make a choice, because the choices are pretty obvious.

Shantae Advance hasn't been skipped, it is coming at a later date. That's from the publisher via X.

At his point, I cannot tell if this is a real or fake announcement, I'll lower my expectations to ground level and be prepared for the worst.
Well, there was like 100 lower rated Metroidvanias that was not coming to GOG, so i do understand it may look suspicious.

Somewhat the very high success of this genre is as well to blame because with increased success in general publishers does not feel the "urge" supplying GOG... but there are always exceptions.

To GOG and their gamers this is important because it does set a certain mark in many terms; pretty much a psychological thing; and as a follow up even more comparable releases may happen. However, if GOG barely can afford such releases (simply barely able to fulfill the publishers expectations) then every single of those mark feels like a herculean feat with insufficient long-term-force.

I simply enjoy it but i am aware... i should enjoy it way more than the ones being spoiled to hard.

Yes, Hollow Knight is one of those "genre defining" leaders which is good and bad at once... because if someone is in the lead they naturally will be treated with no mercy. They can not afford to deliver something weak anymore, else the punishment can be heavy. If it goes well... then it can hit another milestone in some terms.

Honestly, the only thing I hate about this is that I know many patches and DLCs will arrive later, and I just hate to play this genre only to have to replay the game for minor content (I replay them after some time, an entire playthrough). So I will wait until the game is "truly completed" to play.

Best wishes to the developers and I hope the game is still as good as the first one!

(And thanks GOG for bringing this game. I'm tired of sequels that don't arrive like Rogue Legacy, Spelunky or Freedom Planet).
