I was just struck with a childhood memory of a game, and have been looking up random search terms on the internet to try and find it again for the last hour or so.
I remember it being an adventure game of some sort, with pictures in the middle and text of what was going on over on the side. The character on the title screen was this big green dragon that I think had glasses (although I could be wrong on this). It was written in a storybook/fairy tale type of style/setting, but I don't remember what the goal was. Pretty sure it was a kids' game. Could've been educational, for the purpose of building reading skills, perhaps? Judging by what I remember of the graphics, it was made sometime in the 90s or early 2000s. Seemed to be aimed at around ages 8 and up.
This is a vague description, I know, but maybe you guys are old enough to have seen it and help me out here,

Dragon Wars, perhaps?
Not sure if you played it on pc or a console, but your description reminds me of Blazing Dragons. Which was on both the Playstation and on the Sega Saturn. I could be wrong ofc but hey ho.
There was a game tie in to this BBC program apparently.. but it might be a bit older than you are looking for..

Geralt_of_Rivia: Dragon Wars, perhaps?
No, not at all. I don't think it was an RPG with hit points and whatnot. Heck, I don't even think you could fight.

PC. And nope.

That's an interesting one, but that ain't it either.

I have to admit, I'm impressed with the rarity/obscurity of the games being named so far. It gives me hope, because I'm pretty sure this was a rare one.

Have you tried hypnosis?

I have. It was a bit too tacky for my tastes, though, so I didn't end up buying it.

Hmm, picture in the middle and text to the side pretty much rules out any adventure game I know. Adventure games always had the text below the pictures. Text to the side is a classic staple of the Bard's Tale series and its successors and clones. But these are all RPGs.

Oh, wait, there was a series of adventures from Legend Entertainment which used mouse input on clickable words together with keyboard input. They had the word lists on the side.

One of these games had a green dragon on the box art even though it wasn't on the title screen. Check out Eric the Unready.

Again, it was a kids' game. And not an RPG either.
Now that I think about it, the text might've been below, but I don't recall exactly.

Have you checked out Eric the Unready? It is an adventure and not a RPG. And its humour might make you think it is a kids game even though it isn't.

I desperately HOPE this isn't a kids' game.
Most of Legend Entertainment's adventure games used the same engine as the picture up there, so it might have been one of those. I don't think they made any children's games, though.

Can't think of any game that fits your description exactly, but Word Rescue was a kid's game with a "big green dragon" with glasses on the title screen :D.

Nope. Those are all much too old.
