I keep hoping every day that someone will come and take Steam down as the most popular PC distro platform. Part of the reason is because Valve for whatever it's worth no longer makes video games. They are resting on their laurels and they just dont care. An entire console generation has gone by without them actually releasing a single game worth anyone's salt. I've just grown tired of it. That's part of the reason I've moved to GOG.com and other stores. I still occasionally get third party games on Steam but that's only when forced. If I could have all the games be on another platform other than Steamworks i would. Anyone feel the way I feel?

Can't become disillusioned if you've never been illusioned.

You might be interested in supporting https://www.patreon.com/yuzuteam since Nintendo is doing about the same thing now... Starfox is no longer in house, along with a metroid game being made be a third party except they have a very strong anti-piracy and anti-consumer business model, you can't even refund pre-orders on the eshop...
You must be a serious fan of Steam games if you want someone to take down their store because they're not making games anymore.

But, but, Artifact! ... Pfft. Who am I kidding? That game flopped so hard it doesn't even have enough players to pop up in the top played games anymore. Can't wait to see the other two (possibly disappointing) games that are supposed to be currently in development.

Yeah. That game would've been magnificent if they weren't running the store. Oh wait... maybe devs don't always strike gold.

Well, I would have said the same, but a better way to put it would be: I've been so disillusioned with it ever since I came across it that I've never wanted to have anything to do with it in the first place.

Steam is the Devil of digital game distribution.

More like nobody was waiting with abated breath for a money-grubbing card game. If that's all Valve is capable of these days five years after their last genuine (yet very boringly-single-map and slightly toxic) game that is DOTA 2, I certainly won't be holding my breath.

Personally I don't get why anyone is waiting for them to make games. What are they hoping they'll do? Still waiting for HL3?
As much as I dislike Steam I find that GOG is making considerably more anti-consumer decisions.

Everything you hate about Steam/Valve, GOG is striving to achieve the same.

If be "take down" you mean create an online store that could compete with Steam and even beat it - I'm all for it. Even as I'm Steam reagular, I want it to improve and competition is the best thing to mativate that.

But all that said, Steam still has many good points. For example I like that they took anti-censorship stance. Would be sad if organizations like PayPal will start to boycott it (like with Subscribe Star) and force to change policies. In that case Steam could go down too, but not in a good way.

Pfft. They didn't take an anti-censorship stance ,they took an anti curation stance, which is an anti-work stance. They'll let whatever bullshit on their store flood the market and drown legit games because it's too much work to enforce any kind of standard.

lol! you know, i'd love to have a job in a company that take an anti-work stance ... and a you-may-sleep-at-work-stance
I would actually accept GOG Galaxy becoming mandatory if all AAA games came over to GOG instead of Steam. At least, even with Galaxy, GOG provides some options. Valve is so over themselves that they can't seem to care about gaming anymore. Hell, even Uplay or Origin could detrhone Steam. Just something to make "Lord Gaben" wake the fuck up. People don't want a platform. People want games. GOOD games. Except for a couple of AAA games, and some indie games like Thomas Was Alone, can't say that GOG has ever dissappointed me. Yes, some games lack features or patches... that's on the developer's AND GOG. Not just GOG.
