Sebatrox: for games like ME: Andromeda I have PS4. retail version without any crappy DRMs
Being tied to specific hardware is just as bad as DRM, IMO. And harder to circumvent.

maybe but at least there are rumors that PS5 may be backwards compatible

DeadPoolX: Sure, but who goes offline unless there's an outage? The last time I went offline (other than a rare outage, which also shut down power, so I couldn't use my computer anyway) was with dial-up back in the 90s.

teceem: People should be able to go offline when and for how long they want to. Why do you feel the need to project your personal situation onto others?
Precisely. It's my personal choice to go offline. (Or my ISP's to go offline regardless of what I think). I'd still like the ability to do what I want regardless of whether there is an internet connection or not.

lumengloriosum: Not to mention forced updates where devs can change features of the game like Paradox Interactive with Europa Universalis 4.

Dylan2: It's not true. You can revert your version or even copy the game elsewhere because EU4 and other Paradox Games use Steamworks only for multiplayer. You can play solo without Steam running.I do it myself all the time.Every Paradox Development Studio Game is drm-free.
Cordially.
How are you mean to do that?
It isn't the case for most other games thanks to steam introducing forced updates not patches.

Whoa. Back up there and stop being so defensive.

I agree, people should be able to choose, so let's knock that chip off your shoulder right away.

It's just that purposefully going offline (I've had always-on broadband connections since 2000 or so) seems like an anachronism in some ways to me; a callback to dial-up, which no one uses if they can avoid it. I couldn't imagine trying to download many of the games on here with dial-up as even the older titles would take a while, and something like The Witcher 3 would take days.

So I couldn't really imagine someone wanting to go offline, as opposed to a disruption in your service or the power going out (the latter of which would make it impossible to play PC games anyway).
