JackWhite1328: It's not even funny to talk about GTA 2 seriously LUL. It became notorius because of 3D games, not because of second part (which were good but nothing too special)
You got it backwards. Even the first GTA was a huge hit, and 3D games came into the world hyped up and bestselling thanks to their top-down predecessors.

JackWhite1328: Are you hyped for this remaster, guys? I personally wait for a custom RP servers so we can have fun in the online mode once again which surely should be AWESOME!
No. It looks like shit. And T2 would destroy all modmakers who will try to fix it.

What's there to be hyped about?

Thing has cash grab written all over it, graphics look like absolute dogshit, radio stations are missing tons of songs, it has bugs that make you wonder whether Rockstar had a look at Cyberpunk 2077 and went "Oh, that's what's cool with kids these days, huh? No problem, we can do that too!", they're censoring stuff like the confederate flag to appeal to "modern sensibilities", they took down the (already absurdly overpriced and barely working) originals so they could sell this shit for a staggering $60 and they went out of their way to shut down and SUE modders that made the originals work on modern systems.

And I'm somehow supposed to get hyped for this garbage?

LOLNO! Fuck Rockstar and fuck this nasty cash grab!

@Chasmancer

I don't think he even tried the second game. Probably watched some gameplay and that's it.

He could not be more wrong when he said it is was not special. Even the radio stations were brilliant, in GTA2.

I'd like to see this game in GOG, some day.

JackWhite1328: it's a bit lazy work but in the long term community will do all the job done.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA, then they'll get sued by Rockstar, because Rockstar are such top blokes (and because by that time they'll be releasing the GTA Trilogy Ultimate Definitive Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition for $120 a piece)
Not particularly.
I only ever cared for the original GTA from '97.

paladin181: I have the originals. Not really hyped for a minor facelift of old games. Give me a true remaster with higher quality models/textures and some real QOL fixes. Or remake the games in a newer engine with more power and modability. Don't just re-release the game with a price hike and some slightly altered textures with a widescreen mod implemented and ask me to pay for it.

JackWhite1328: Well it is definitely true but I think with this new engine mods will be even better, that's why yes it's a bit lazy work but in the long term community will do all the job done.
Me not hyped either and I join paladin181. The price tag is insane! In such case I would go back to play them again in Android: Affordable prices there, good performance and they were surprisingly fun (despite the non fair comparisson tablet vs PC) :)
(Warning: My gameplay was before educating myself and learning all the tracking/telemetry sh*t Android has)
Rockstar did actually give out 1&2 into the wild. So it isnt piracy, as they really did givem out free. The problem ariaes trusting a source. Rockstar doesnt care you download them. The source is just sketchy.
Remaster seems like a mixed bag. Some nice upgrades but also some weird changes, and the controls don't seem as modernized as I would like. Will probably wait for a deep sale or something.

It's a shame how rare it is that remasters are clear 100% improvements. I think Crysis 2 is the only one so far IMO, with maybe Bioshock 1 and 2 being kinda close.
I got mixed feelings about the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, but what is really a negative point for me is the $59.99 cost. Should three games that are just updated with better graphics cost $59.99?

Before the announcement, Rockstar used to sell GTA 3, Vice City, and SA each for $9.99.

I might pick this up if Rockstar throws it on sale but I can still just play the originals. By the way, Rockstars servers are done right now so it's hard for them to sell and connect to games online.

Turok. Only fairly basic improvements like modern resolution support/control rebinding/slightly better graphics, no significant changes and nothing degraded. I'd also add Homeworld 2, and possibly Homeworld 1 after the game was eventually patched to have the missing features of the original. Though I never played the original so I can't say for sure. Oh, and Metro Last Light Redux, but that has so few changes it barely counts as a remaster.

I guess they'll try their luck with 59 and see if that'll work out. Nintendo-style. (But no, the price hike isn't justified)

Looks like people couldn't even play the trilogy due to the Rockstar Launcher DRM going down.

I thought the new Mass Effects were at least 90% improvements (loss of butt shots and one ME1 DLC making it a little short of perfect.)

I havent played the original or remasters (actually thought about this since I missed the GTA era) but it sounds like this is the worst version to get. Missing music, lazy graphics, removed atmosphere that makes the world look worse, weird controls, and hedges being solid so you cant drive through them like the originals. I suppose the trophy list additions and minor graphic updates were improvements but it seems the original steam releases with fan mods gave a far superior experience (until they were all taken down ofcourse).
