Master of Orion. The original.
There isn't a single answer. I can think of at least 2 games that haven't been mentioned yet, and two more that have had their series mentioned. Then we also have Paradox with the Grand Strategies that no one suggested yet, and quite possibly a few RTS titles that have almost gone unmentioned.

What kind of strategy are you looking for so we can give a better answer?
Age of Wonders series...well that's this week pick.

Sup Com would be cool, mmmMMm one day. <--rts i know...thinking out loud.

Tauto: Should I ask? What does a fart look like?
The essence of a whoopee cushion used as a jump booster.

No actual gas in Terraria.

I thought it might of been a brownish colour.

tinyE: The first two Oddworld games fart and Terraria has a 'fart in a jar'.

Los Angeles on a bad day. Or industrial China on a good day.

I have enjoyed quite a few strategy flavors over the years. I can recall, way back in the mists of time, playing Caesar 3 borrowed from the library. Since then, I have played many RTS as well as turn based games, including Age of Empires (1 and 2 with expansions), Command and Conquer, Company of Heroes, Civilization 4 and 5, several Total War titles, and Warhammer (though I prefer (more) true-to-history games). I have dabbled a little into Paradox games, mostly Hearts of Iron, but haven't spent the necessary time to really learn them. Now that you know my preferences, what do you recommend? :)

Off the top of my head, Pharaoh + Cleopatra (or any of the other city builders), any of the Stronghold games (depending on whether you'll prefer combat or economic growth), or maybe Lords of the Realm 2.
You can also go for Master of Magic or the X-Com games, but given the examples you gave, I think Stronghold would be more to your liking.

I have Pharaoh + Cleopatra and Crusader Kings Complete both in my Wishlist waiting for a sale on them. :) Do you have any Paradox favorites?

Not really, due to lack of time. Paradox titles do require for one to dedicate themselves to just that game, for quite a bit of time.

It's all fun and games until someone declares war on Canada and the gates of hell are opened.
Don't do that.
