As mentioned by the user Skysect here, in order to play the affected games on XP, you'll need a steam_api.dll for a workaround to disable Galaxy.dll. How ironic.

If you wan't to play with WinXP, pick a steam_api.dll from any game and rename it as GalaxyWrp.dll.
As it turned out, not any will do since it doesn't work with the dummies provided with some games here.

Affected games so far:
Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

Oh GOG...

Edit: Removed Fallout 3 and Oblivion from the list.

Edit2: Added a working fix for Fallout: New Vegas.

Oh, good to know.
I didn't buy them because of this and stopped after the New Vegas thing.

Corrected.

The optional client strikes again!

Skysect: snip
I tried your fix with the steam_api.dll from GOG's package of Worms Armageddon.
This time I made it to the setup but when trying to enter the game I get another error message:
"SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning" in DLL "GalaxyWrp.dll" not found
Do I need a special steam_api.dll?

So...why are you still running XP then?

Only OS out there on Remote Christmas Island?

Probably it's not matter . But I tried with Fallout: New Vegas's steam_api.dll .

Worm's file is dummy steam_api.dll though . I am not sure it's including Steam functions . Don't you have Steam ? Also did you renamed it ?

Don't pretend you don't know that there are tons of Linux users running offline-XP via dual-boot or virtual system.

Where am I supposed to get that particular steam_api.dll from? Mind sending it to me?
No, I don't have Steam and yes, I renamed it, else there'd be yet another error message (GalaxyWrp.dll not found).

Rename it to steam_api.dll.
I got from my BG: EE installation (Steam version) from my Windows XP system.

I am not sure sharing that file is legal or not :/ But after renaming it as GalaxyWrp.dll it's working on here .

Change the extension as zip and unzip it .

Will GOG fix it?
It is a Windows XP compatible game. Don't forget about it, GOG! ;)

Just curious, why XP? I'm too Linux user (Ubuntu 16.04) with Win7 via dual-boot.
