It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Last time I used a FTP program was back in 1999-2000 so I'm kinda oblivious to what's up today :o)

It's just for a few use here and there (I don't even know if I'll truly need it as I'll use wordpress) so it should be basic (put your server adress/login/password and then a GUI like windows explorer) and free (even open source?).

Thanks for enlightening me ;)
Check filezilla out. Can't go wrong with that.

I'll second that.
Nothing wrong with Filezilla.

I use WinSCP. I think it's smaller and I like it that way.
I use Filezilla for managing MaGog and my other websites.
I find it very dependent.

Whatever you do, do not use SmartFTP. The application is not bad at all, but their support all but amounts to a scam (basically, they asked me to pay them $50 so that they would agree to look at a bug that they had just introduced).

Yeah, but does it have password encrypted key based SSH authentification? Eh? EH?

Not gonna look into it forther than a quick scan, but it looks like it doesn't. I do know that filezilla didn't last year.
If you want "windows explorer" GUI, you can just type the ftp address in windows explorer address bar :) You can set login/pwd from the menu.
Hopefully your server isn't actually using unsecured FTP.

OK, thanks for all your replies. Filezilla looks totally like what I'm looking for if I have to do some special work or throw out wordpress completely :)
I use WinSCP because it supports all of the transfer protocols that Filezilla supports plus WinSCP also supports the SCP protocol - which I need and Filezilla doesn't have.

Just be careful where you get Filezilla - some of the download sites have (or had) malware infested installers.
With Filezilla you can also set your own ftp server, apart from the client. (and it's free)
Konqueror is possibly the best client, provided that you're using Linux or BSD. I tend to use Filezilla on Windows.

On the server itself it's best not to even have an FTP server installed at all - FTP is hopelessly obsolete and SSH does the job better in every way.
