Whoops, I forgot to mention Trine and Octodad. We've played those, too. Well, they played Octodad with two players, I had already played through the single player mode - can it be played with three players as well? We've played a bit of Trine 2, but for some reason the picky player wasn't too keen on it. Beats me why. I played through the first Trine all by myself and almost beat Trine 3 with two other friends online, but the requirement to unlock levels by finding secrets kept us from finishing it so far.

I recently bought the latest version of Guacamelee here on GOG, but I didn't know it added three player co-op; that's cool! Player 3 is not that fond of it either, but maybe she can be convinced eventually. ;)

I'll look into Magicka 2, Broforce (maybe too much of a shooter, probably not her humor), Towerfall (competitive only?), Monaco and Obliteracers, thanks! Deadly Tower of Monsters was on my radar anyway, if it's got 3 player co-op, all the more reason to get it. The PC games don't have to be on GOG, btw, other stores/clients are fine, too.

Leroux: Any recommendations for true 3-player couch co-op games (that aren't that dark and serious)?

amrit9037: Try these

That's what I did yesterday, but it's a bit complicated to find out whether these games are actually 3-player-co-op all the way through or just feature 3-player (versus) modes as minigames. Still, a good starting point, and I noticed now that you get a bit more info if you click on the titles individually.

Random_Coffee: I've played a lot of Crimsonland in co-op. It has support for up to 4 local players. A simple, but great co-op game. The problem is.. it's dark, gory, and difficult :P It has some element of humor in the perk selection-screen though.
Yeah, I fear she might not like it. But it's still good to know about all of our options.

Towerfall has a 2 player campaign mode. The expansion adds a different campaign that supports more players.

You should find yourself another third player. If someone doesn't love TRINE, he/she should stay away from coop-gaming.
Moon Hunters
Currently only on Steam but supposedly coming to GoG tomorrow.

That looks quite interesting, thanks for the suggestion!

I get why you'd feel that way, I don't quite understand her reaction myself, but the actual goal is not to do co-op gaming for the sake of co-op gaming, but for the sake of spending time together (playing!). Otherwise I'd be happy enough with single player. ;)

A few titles that I have not seen mentioned:

Atom Zombie Smasher
Awesomenauts
FORCED
Hammerwatch
Jamestown - the game becomes a bit difficult later on, but it is a lot of fun, especially in co-op mode
Rocket League - I myself don't like games about sports, but I played this with a friend in local co-op, and it was awesome
