Today is a happy day – for both GOG and SNK! Already packed with an arsenal of SNK titles, such as those from popular series like THE KING OF FIGHTERS and METAL SLUG, we took a step further in our partnership – and brought an additional 24 retro games to our platform. Countless hours spent standing at arcades can now greet you in a comfortable gaming chair, so let’s take a closer look!

SNK games are considered impeccable retro gems, bringing back the era of arcade gaming and sparking the joy of nostalgia far and wide. Their creations often revive the best memories, and diving into the world of pixels for many feels like diving into warm afternoons of childhood and adolescence, just yearning for another round before running out of coins at the arcade. It’s not only for lovers of all things old-school, though – younger generations reach out for such classics with equal eagerness, treating them as a time capsule in an overwhelming trend of returning retro culture.

And that’s exactly what GOG’s mission is about: to touch the hearts and minds of players of all ages, with a common passion for nostalgia, and the excitement of playing these timeless titles on modern machines. As gamers ourselves, we’re extremely happy to bring in yet another instalment of METAL SLUG to our store, as well as contribute to our series catalogue for THE KING OF FIGHTERS and KING OF THE MONSTERS. Such news, though, wouldn’t be the same without an announcement of further representation for the ART OF FIGHTING series, as well as the inclusion of the first two entries in the SENGOKU trilogy – a beat-'em-up arcade classic.

But, to make things easier, you can check out the full list of all 24 SNK arrivals here:

This is not GOG’s final word on the subject, that’s for sure – we have much more up our sleeves, and we’re looking forward to expanding our relationship with SNK, as well as their catalogue of timeless gems on our platform. So, better get ready, because more is yet to come!

In the meantime check out the SNK Publisher Sale!
Since SNK released new games here they should update first the king of fighter games to include the rollback update.

GOG, could you, please, explain, IF THESE CAPITAL LETTERS ARE NECESSARY?
Am I the only one who prefers more standarized games' naming in my library?... :|

SORRY; WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

No, really, I hate that as well. Proper title capitalization, please.
Some here will find this useful:

@GOG, please get neo turf masters back in your catalog. It's the only one I'm still missing on gog. Bought it elsewhere, but still i'd love to have it here, too.

Sarang: Well if I buy them here I will consider myself to have bought the rights to play them so I will grab the ROM's elsewhere as nowhere are the ROM's officially sold anywhere anyway.

WinterSnowfall: And I would call that "fair use", but there's quite a bit of extra hassle to go through. But I guess it is what it is.
This is a common misconception. This is not what "fair use" is at all.

The fair use doctrine allows limited use of copyright material without needing to get consent from the right holders - for education, parody, critique or review (and search engines). Thats it. It means that you can for example review a game, a film, a book or an image and do not need to seek the right holders permision to do so, or that an education instutirion can make limited use of cpyright material as part of their teaching and so on.

(The fair use doctrine also only applies to USA, other countries have different laws)

WinterSnowfall: To whom it may concern: None of the above games include readily available FBNeo ROMs, as some of the previous SNK releases used to include. Ergo you will be forced to play these with the provided emulator.
That sad, thanks for the info.

But still MS4 this way is still better then no MS4, so thanks gog!

That's not what I meant by "fair use", which does not equate to the legal term fair use. I was simply stating that's probably something one can do without too much legal mire, since one already has purchased a license for said game, albeit emulated differently, hence the quotes. But don't take my advice on it, I'm not an attorney.

Edit: Added an "a" in the quoted post for extra clarity.

"Where are all the old game releases, GOG?! ... No, not those! I meant the good old games, that I want!"

I think once we're past the first quarter of the year, the ability to "kick off" the whole year is gone, too. ;)

Safe to say that this is at the request of the publisher, given that all these old SNK games have been ALL CAPS since they first started showing up in the store, and that only a tiny proportion of other scattered games here do the same.

The Saudi Arabians puppeteering SNK's zombified corpse, you mean?

That's the publisher's decision, not GOG's.

All SNK games are in caps on Steam too.

As long as they release their games on GOG, I don't care who does the puppeteering or whether they type in all caps.

Sarang: as nowhere are the ROM's officially sold anywhere anyway.
Humble Bundle sells them (indirectly), with the emulator, at a MUCH better price. Also includes Neo Turf Masters. You get separate downloads for each AND Steam Keys for the Metal Slug games (FWIW).

Picked up a handful of these and they are running flawlessly in Linux.

Using Lutris to install (WINE version 8.26)
Zorin OS.

Hopefully a native Linux build will be added but they run smoothly right now.

The King of Fighters had no sound but in the options the sound was muted, once I set it everything was fine.
