BlackThorny: Gog has sent us an email regarding some Policy Changes, the email claimed those will set into effect on March 6th, 2015. We have 30 days.
They also mentioned these new policies were made in regard to what the community posted in the forums - So they claim to listen.
I'll start.
I noticed these words under the http://www.gog.com/support/policies/terms_of_use Pre-orders section
Early exchange: you can exchange a validly purchased game for a replacement game of equal or lower value if your request is made within 30 days of the original purchase (for games purchased during discount periods, the discounted price applies).
BlackThorny: Is this a new option or part of the 30 Days Refund policy? how is this incorporated in practice - one replacement per purchase within given time? Why doesn't it mention you Must Not download the title within that period as mentioned below?
Hi there! They also mentioned these new policies were made in regard to what the community posted in the forums - So they claim to listen.
I'll start.

First off, it's Ciris, with 2 i-s in it :) 2nd, I would have probably noticed this thread, apart from the main discussion topic on the subject that has already been linked in this thread. They are THE SAME Privacy Policy/User Agreement changes, by the way :)
Secondly, it'd probably be easier if you read the new version of the agreement and the updated privacy policy instead of the old one that's next to it - it has the simple English version the old one lacks (something you complained about) and has the updated terms of service (instead of the old ones that you've been discussing).
Now I'll give you a bit of time to familiarise yourself with the new materials, and am open to discussing points afterwards :)
BlackThorny: If we continue inspecting the same page some more comes in mind:
1. Changes to the Terms of Use
GOG at its sole discretion, reserves the right at any time, to change, modify, add or remove portions of these Terms of Use. It is the User's responsibility for reviewing and becoming familiar with any such modifications. Use of the Service by User following such modification constitutes User's acceptance of the terms and conditions of this Agreement as modified. Additional terms and conditions may apply to specific portions or features of the Service.
BlackThorny: This gives Gog the ultimate power to change EVERYTHING on a whim, and the User has nothing to say about it.
More so, this actually says that every user claims to comply just by continuing to use the service after Gog changes!
This section also doesn't list Any ways by which Gog should advertise those changes to its users, Nor time it takes from publication of changes to them being applied.
2.
Last Updated: 9th December 2013
BlackThorny: I hope you will at least change the date upon any revision so that one could spot a revision was made.
Come to think of it, maybe this pages actually Wasn't Updated At All and isn't part of the revision? If so, where is the "brief, informal summary for every important topic" - Is it only within the Gog User Agreement page?
The date you're talking about is the date from the old agreement, that is still active for 30 days (and then will become inactive and the new one will go into place). 1. Changes to the Terms of Use

Updated version of that point (under the correct link):
19. CHANGES TO THIS AGREEMENT
19.1 We may change this Agreement if we think it's necessary, e.g. for legal reasons or to reflect changes in GOG services or GOG content. If so, we will make the changed Agreement available online at http://www.gog.com/support/policies/gog_user_agreement and (if you have a GOG account) email you to let you know about the changes.
19.2 Once we change the Agreement, it will become legally binding on you a reasonable time period after we post it online (we believe 30 days will normally be reasonable). During that period, you're welcome to contact us at legal@gog.com if you have specific questions about the changes.
19.3 If we don't hear from you before the end of that time period, the changes will automatically become binding on you. If you don't agree to those changes (regardless of whether you email us), then unfortunately we must ask you to cease using GOG services and GOG content. We're sorry we have to say that, but we hope you'll appreciate that for GOG.com to work properly we need to have everyone using it under the same rules instead of different people having different rules. That's why we encourage you to get in contact if you have queries or concerns.
19.4 Just so you know, we'll never just make a bunch of changes to this Agreement, not tell you what they are and force you to agree to changes you don't understand before you can use GOG.com!

Refunds and returns
6.7 We understand that sometimes a purchase doesn't turn out how you expected and we want to be fair to GOG users. So here's our deal with you:
a) Preorders Refund: if you preorder and pay for a GOG game, you can cancel the preorder and get a full refund as long as we receive a valid request before the game's full release date on GOG.com.
b) Early Exchange: you can exchange validly purchased GOG content for a replacement GOG game or video of equal or lower value if your request is made within 30 days of the original purchase, provided the original GOG content has not been downloaded, used or streamed. (For GOG content purchased during discount periods, the discounted price applies.) You can exchange specific GOG content once only. You can’t exchange GOG content you received as an exchange for other GOG content.
c) Money back guarantee: if you buy any GOG content and have significant technical issues with it (e.g. there is a major show stopper bug in a game that prevents you from finishing it), we will give you a full refund if all the following requirements are met:
(i) You must have genuine significant technical issues with the GOG content.
(ii) You need to contact GOG Customer Support to request the refund within 30 days of the original purchase (if you received it from a GOG-authorised exchange for another product, then the 30 day period starts running from the date of exchange).
(iii) GOG Customer Support must have a reasonable time period in which to try to resolve the issue before they process the refund to you.
d) Withdrawal Right: we give you the right to withdraw from a purchase of GOG content without charge and for any reason within 30 days after you bought that GOG content, IF it has not been downloaded, streamed, activated or used in any way before then. If any of those things happen then your withdrawal right is lost.
6.8 Final sale: a sale is considered final either 30 days after purchase or when you try to download the GOG content or any additional/bonus content. Once either of those happens, you no longer will have any return, exchange or refund options unless you have technical issues covered by paragraph (c) above.
yyahoo: Isn't there already a centralized topic here?
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/upcoming_update_to_gogcom_policies
BlackThorny: Maybe it is centralized there, but that is an old and long thread regarding all previous changes, while this one is New and relevant only to changes starting from 2015 and onwards. I've don't recall receiving an email from Gog with such a topic before - these changes must seem important enough so they deserve their own thread :) http://www.gog.com/forum/general/upcoming_update_to_gogcom_policies
edit: well not old, just a discussion thread regarding the changes to be, while this one is discussing the actual changes.
