JudasIscariot: Like I said, I have no idea how this all works but it looks like it's mostly for the GIT version of Wine??
avatar
Gydion: No, that's . o___0 It's in the [url=https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging]Wine Staging README:

What is Wine Staging?

Wine Staging is the testing area of winehq.org. It contains bug fixes and features, which have not been integrated into the development branch yet. The idea of Wine Staging is to provide experimental features faster to end users and to give developers the possibility to discuss and improve their patches before they are integrated into the main branch.

JudasIscariot: I just use the source code and patch that...much eisier for me :P
avatar
Gydion: As did I using git to obtain the code. I was just a day early from having the patch already implemented.
Right, I mean I just patched the source code I had downloaded and unzipped, not the git version as in I didn't use a git-related command to patch the code :) Again, I am not an expert in WINE and git so there you have it :)

Gotcha. Technically I didn't use git to patch mine either as it was such a simple patch and I was lazy (I need to save the patch to a file!).

JudasIscariot: You can try browsing the apps to get a glimpse of that.

phaolo: It's not great, but ok thanks.

Retail games (5101?):
- platinum --- 1249 --- 24,5%
- gold --------- 1270 --- 24,9%
- silver -------- 917 ---- 18%
- bronze ----- 668 ---- 13,1%
- garbage ---- 997 ---- 19,5%

So some 2500 games seem to work fine (50%).
a reliable statistic doesn't really exist :)
there are tons of games that only have really outdated test reports. Then there might be different editions of the game (like disc, steam, gog ) which might have different ratings.
example: Age Of Wonders
and the exact definition of a gold rating also varies at times.

it might give a better overview if somebody makes a thread here in the forum and users report their tests there.
gog users seem to be good at maintaining lists :)

Yeah, those filters are very limited :\
Anyway a gogger here (who?) was already doing some tests with Wine.
He should add some results there, specifying Gog in the name (plus versions).
(or ask Wine webmasters to improve that damn table)

rampancy: Sigh. Tried it with wine-staging 1.7.53 (which I assume includes the patches from the trunk 1.7.53 build?) -- the game still quits on launch with some sort of audio related error message (I'm assuming the XAudio bug referred to earlier). I'll wait until the main 1.7.53 trunk build hits the Wineskin engine server before I try again.

Oh well. At least Chantelise, Recettear and Rites of War work flawlessly for me in WINE, so I'm not too hard up for new releases to play.
I am surprised.

About Recettear, I tried myself: didnt you have issues like sometimes, to me at random, balloons disappear while selling in the shop or pause menu entries become invisible but still interactible or some random monster sprite becomes invisible, like tests say on wine appdb? It may take some hours to occur.

Also, if Chantelise works really flawlessy, please consider submitting a test here, it could be useful to other gamers (and to gog.com sales, if linux gamers believes things work on WINE, they are more willing to purchase).

With respect to Recettear and Chantelise, I was expecting an epic slog on the order of my failed ordeal to get Descent 3, Hearts of Iron III, and Elminage Gothic to a working playable state. Instead, all I had to do was install directmusic in Winetricks to get the music to play. I believe I also installed devenum and quartz too.

That being said, I used wine-staging 1.7.52 and wine-staging 1.7.53 in Wineskin with the Mac native driver enabled. Much to my surprise, I haven't (yet!) encountered any graphical anomalies with either game, particularly with Chantelise and the issue with improperly rendered monster sprites...but I do admit that I'm right now only on the starting dungeon after the initial tutorial.I could very well get these problems later. I'm also running this game on Intel Integrated Graphics, too.

I'll do some more play testing on my current setup (and on my other Mac which uses Nvidia graphics), before I'll submit a test. But I definitely do intend on doing that, given how popular these games are.

It looks like I spoke too soon about Recettear. When I actually went to a dungeon in the game on my older MacBook Air with Nvidia graphics, I got hit with the disappearing treasure chest and exit portal bug that you mentioned earlier. I've tried tweaking the settings, to no avail. Thankfully there are ways to get around that.

I haven't noticed any other graphical anomalies...so far.

trusteft: With Microshit doing everything they can to shove W10 down our throats, I hate to say it but I am looking for linux as a solution. Please do all you can to increase Linux compatibility to get rid of this douchebag called Microsoft.
I approve of this message!

Or make a gog operating system! :D

P.S Microsoft is definitely Not Genuine to people who bought windows!

I was wondering, is there a reason the Linux version of "Journey of a Roach" is not available on GOG?

Oh, well, actually I didnt got any treasure chest or doors disappearing, I got some random monsters later armoured knights, or how are they called. Following this last appdb test notes, i.e. "winetricks d3dxof dsound directmusic" and latest wine, are you able to see treasure chests and exit portal? I do see them always.

I admit it's early days in the dungeoneering part of the game for me (I'm embarrassed to say I jumped the gun on saying this game worked so well, but that comes out of how badly I've wanted to try this game), but so far, only the exit portals and treasure chests are invisible.

How far in the game are the armored knights? Can you provide a screenshot? I've just been grinding the starting dungeon a little bit to level up Louis.

I've been lately playing this game in the latest version of CrossOver, which is based off of the 1.7.25 codebase. I'll see how this works under Wineskin with wine-staging 1.7.53...

Oh, and the CrossOver Software Installer (Codeweaver's equivalent to winetricks) doesn't list d3dxof; is it part of any of the larger directx9 packages?
