ZFR: Joppo has backup keys

HypersomniacLive: Is he around? Someone ping him.
Now I am.
Sorry everyone, but this past week was absolute unavailability for me. I simply couldn't be an actual co-moderator this time - I was more precisely a backup mod if Lift was abducted by aliens or anything. But I simply wasn't around to give even a vote count.

Now that I am back I will read all the stuff I missed. Good luck whoever has won (I'm trying to avoid the spoilers so i didn't read past where I was a week ago)

Lol @ dedo knowingly forfeiting by vigging me.
What is this about please? I didn't read the game.

JoeSapphire: and you just reminded me: I added the '>:]' face to my confirmation that RW saw me do nothing to make the scums nervous,
did it work scums? or was it too obvious a bluff?
I was pretty sure you're making yourself look scarier than you really are. Then I thought you were a Desperado which completely negated any thought you can do something during the Night. I can't speak for babark but I have the feeling he just doesn't know you well enough and the smiley likely completely flew under his radar. So I don't think it worked that well, sorry :D

Well, it was bs anyway so why not.

Wouldn't a D1 massclaim have mostly won the game in this setup?

HypersomniacLive: @JoeSapphire, I took the vig-shot part of your 3 names challenge as "who do you think is a deepwolf", and I think ZFR did the same. Did we misunderstand it?

I wasn't scum, but it wouldn't have worked on me just for the fact that I don't know what >:] is supposed to mean in the first place.

You can never know if that's a good idea or not until you do it, but I don't think it would have been quite that easy in this case. I guess if the mafia massively cocked up their false claims then maybe.

The sample PMs were there to prevent that. They give scum something to work with. If they read the samples, they knew how the town PMs are structured. Claiming a PR would still have been a gamble, as it always is in a closed setup. You never know which roles are already there. Claiming vanilla would have been safe.

And mass claim is a double edged sword. It tells scum exactly what roles there are and who they are. So they can plan whom to kill first. So, an early mass claim usually is quite bad for town.

What is the difference between closed and open setups?

In open setups, everyone knows exactly which roles - if any - exist in the game.

In closed setups, no one knows which roles exist (scum tends to have some idea, just by examining their own roles, and figuring out balance, but they'll still be blindsided by more outlandish town roles).

There are also semi-open setups (like C9++), where everyone knows which roles could potentially be in the game (from a more or less limited pool) but no one knows which roles will have been picked exactly.

Thank you :)
What would you all prefer for the next game? Open? Closed? Semi-Open? Closed Role Madness? Semi-Open Role Madness? Mountainous? Cult? Bastard?

Explanation:
Role-Madness: everyone has a role, sometimes quite outlandish ones, that don't exist in the Mafiascum-Wiki
Mountainous: no roles at all
Cult: Townies can be recruited into the Scum faction
Bastard: the mod may lie to you about your roles. Flips may be false. There may be roles that are disruptive to the game.
I have an idea for a Cult game, that may be quite unplayable. But it sounds interesting in my head.

Three faction game, Town, Mafia, one Cult Leader.

The Cult can't convert Townies, only Mafioso.
As long as Cult exists, Mafia can't kill Townies. (The Cult wants to recruit, not kill, and therefore has a protective spell over everyone at Night)
Town has to eliminate both, of course.

So, initially Mafia and Cult work directly against each other and their main Night Action (recruit/kill) will fail if used on a Townie. If Mafia eliminates the Cult, the game proceeds as normal game. Same if the Cult recruits all Mafiosi. It would then gain the NK Action instead of the Convert Night Action.
I vote for semi-open role-madness, but no cult element

NO! That's the shrug of cat. See the little pointy ears and the small w? The w representing where the fur makes a w shape on their forehead, which is right above the tabby m on cats with tabby stripes.
