mike_cesara: No no no, you got it all wrong!
You need to check GOG Connect every five days and buy all mentioned games on uplay. Don't forget to install origin and make a rockstar games social club account!
No Blizzard's Battle net? You disappoint me, young padawan.

I don't think he would be able connect to the internet at all without battle net..

omega64: I'm quite curious about the contents of that e-mail. O_o

zeogold: It's ok, it was totally legit, it was sent by his rich Nigerian cousin who's going to give him the fortune he inherited as soon as he pays around $4,000 in money transference fees.
Hah! You fools! My Nigerian contact told me he could bribe some officials and reduce the fees to only $2500! I just had to wire him the money by the end of last week. Who is the smart one here?
I actually think this Gog Connect venture is quite similar to how the giveaways now work on Indie Gala and on some of Humble Bundle ones:
You link (/ temporarily publish) your steam account to a third party in exchange for some freebies.
But Unlike my disdain of Indie Gala due to their eminent disregard of privacy (just see how they OPEN publish redeemer emails),
And my somewhat weary eye I give to Humble on the matter (I allowed them once for a game but didn't agree to link permanently even If I lost a freebie or two as consequence),
I seem to be more then willing to give Gog the benefit of the doubt and even somewhat happy to do so
- It may be due to always considering Gog as my main gaming hub while Steam is mere second (and everything else I care much less) - Well if one must rule them all (and I do prefer it that way), it might as well be Gog.

And yes, even Gog may move from the better solution to just another one down the road, but It's still the best one available...
And I doubt it will ever get to the point of being worse then say Origin...
(That isn't bad per say, but still use Secure-rom to some extent and thus pollute one's system with it, even if in a more benign factor then previously feared)
So I guess even then I'll probably bite my lip and still take what Gog offers (as it suits my preference). Here's for hopping Gog never actually reach that point though.

muun: I don't see the point. Why would I want to link my GoG account to Steam or vice verse? (...)

At any rate, seems like much ado about nothing.
It may just be much ado about nothing.

If you want to have a DRM-free copy of some games you own in Steam, this can be your opportunity to have them without spending any money. I think that GoG may also get a chance to peek into your Steam collection. Maybe they will use that information to determine which other games may be worthwhile to follow with.

paladin181: It's not a collaboration.
I also think that Steam had no say on this

Tormentfan: Oh yeah, and the obligatory "Screw you GoG" for changing the terms I'm willing to agree to with you, for the sake of a different company that shouldn't have any fucking say in the matter.
From my understanding, the new terms only apply to those who use GoG Connect, and are required for the use of the API and/or this service.
If you don't agree with them, I think you can just not use GoG Connect and ignore them.
