It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Engerek01: I did not know that. Can you please guide me to that section in the user agreement?

I can't believe there are still people who are ok with third-party programs making changes on their computers without their consent.
Well...

9. PATCHES, UPDATES AND CHANGES
9.1 Occasionally we may need to patch or update GOG services or GOG content (for example to add or remove features or to resolve software bugs). We need these rights in order to keep GOG.com running efficiently. Our Partners may use GOG services to roll out patches or updates for applicable GOG content.
Galaxy is a GOG service and this would be a "added feature" of Galaxy. I'm also not sure what the Galaxy EULA says but it probably also has something concerning updates which you accept by installing Galaxy.

And considering we license games from GOG, GOG probably has the right to modify them (in accordance with the games publisher) in any way they see fit via updates, etc.

i remember reading somwhere that the installer for gwent contaned no game data. only the galaxy installer which downloaded game data. has this delivery system been changed? i.e. to be notified you are not installing the game, you're installing galaxy primarily?

157116344 setup_gwent_1.2.10.31_en.exe
167319208 setup_galaxy_1.2.34.10.exe

Since they have similar filesize, It looks like what you said.
Does Alien Versus Predator Classic still require Galaxy, or was that just a beta thing?

Also, someone willing to maintain the OP should maybe restart this thread and do it for real.

I am totally ok if they change/alter/remove/add any feature on Galaxy. That was not my issue. So Let's look at the picture again.

1. I install a game I purchased from GOG. (In this case NWN2) I want to play it without Galaxy.
2. Sometime later, I install Galaxy just to see what the fuss is about.
3. Galaxy automatically alter's game files, forcing me to lunch Galaxy every time I try to run my game.

And you are saying this behavior is totally OK. Did I get it right?

:)

Yep. For the most part, except it wasn't really "Galaxy" that altered the files but rather a "game update" that Galaxy performed which included these changes which is agreed to in the user agreement under section 9 to which we just went over.

I think (could be wrong though) even newer updated standalone installer builds now include these changes, except you won't notice unless Galaxy is already installed... otherwise it will ignore it and launch the game.

Pretty sure I remember GOG saying that was just to beta test the online portion of Galaxy and I remember them saying they removed it when Galaxy officially released in beta. I haven't confirmed it though.
