deleted_user: Engerek01: I did not know that. Can you please guide me to that section
in the user agreement? I can't believe there are still people who are ok with third-party programs making changes on their computers without their consent.
deleted_user: Well...
9. PATCHES, UPDATES AND CHANGES
9.1 Occasionally we may need to patch or update GOG services or GOG content (for example to add or remove features or to resolve software bugs). We need these rights in order to keep GOG.com running efficiently. Our Partners may use GOG services to roll out patches or updates for applicable GOG content.
deleted_user: Galaxy is a GOG service and this would be a "added feature" of Galaxy. I'm also not sure what the Galaxy EULA says but it probably also has something concerning updates which you accept by installing Galaxy.
And considering we
license games from GOG, GOG probably has the right to modify them (in accordance with the games publisher) in any way they see fit via updates, etc.
I am totally ok if they change/alter/remove/add any feature on Galaxy. That was not my issue. So Let's look at the picture again.
1. I install a game I purchased from GOG. (In this case NWN2) I want to play it without Galaxy.
2. Sometime later, I install Galaxy just to see what the fuss is about.
3. Galaxy automatically alter's game files, forcing me to lunch Galaxy every time I try to run my game.
And you are saying this behavior is totally OK. Did I get it right?
:)
