I spent an hour trying to beat GOG Galaxy into submission. I can change the 'download' path, but it still seems to be doing a checksum on my C drive, which only has 10 gigs free, instead of my D drive (300 gigs free), despite me telling it to put things on the D drive.

So I'm unable to download Witcher 3 because galaxy vomits on itself and tells me I don't have the drive space.

I was able to get around this by downloading a 'backup' copy of the game.

So far this is my first, and last, purchase through GOG. I got the free code from purchasing my video card. Downloaded the W3 data last week only to have it checksum fail because someone put the same data chunk in there twice.

I've now installed my 'backup' copy of W3 and it still does not interact with Galaxy (Galaxy tells me I have A) no install B) insufficient drive space).

I was able to download the patch through galaxy, which I then had to run manually. I can now play the game.

After downloading it 4 separate times. And it still doesn't work with Galaxy.

Uh, thanks, I guess. Since I did that and it didn't help.

After you install. let GOG Galaxy scan your installed folder ^^

GOG is a great service, especially for old games that they fix up to actually work...but their developers are definitely not the best.

Galaxy barely started it's beta. I wouldn't expect it to be a fully functional client for a year at least. In the meantime, using a download manager with the browser works great to get the game installers, and then the game can be installed wherever.

Have you reported the bug on the Galaxy bugtracker? http://mantis.gog.com/

The Galaxy help thread is https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2

Did you set both, install and download paths to the same disk? Never experienced any problems with downloading games, even with insufficient space on C: with settings like on the picture above.
Hello,

It is actually rather easy.
Open GOG Galaxy.
Click on the setting wheel on the down left side of the program.
Now at the bottom you see 3 settings.
Install game to:
Download games to:
Download extras to:

Make sure ALL of them are linked to the correct drive. Also keep in mind you will have free space for the download AND the install file. For example The Witcher 3 = 23GB download + 40 GB (at least I think it is) install = 62GB free space required.
Select "More" -> "Manage" -> "Import folder". Choose folder from disk d where you want install game. For me this solved the problem

Uh, no, you said you changed only the download path.
Well, I didn't resolve the issue. I rebooted my system and it looks like Galaxy is now properly recognizing that W3 is installed.

I'm still irritated at having to download the game so many times and basically browbeat GOG into letting me play it.

I am having the same two problems as you do. Can you list the steps to download manually? i have already downloaded two copies. one from the pre-install and through the downloader. Both my Galaxy client and gog downloader are stored on my D;/. do i need to move this back to my c:/?
My fix:

1. Change install directory to other drive
2. Restart GoG Client
3. Uninstall Witcher 3
4. Install Witcher

In my case it got hung up trying to install to the same old path I had since changed.

I did not need to. All I had to do was run the installer which came with the 'backup' download. Then after I rebooted my system it started showing normal. In the Galaxy client if you click on the w3, you should have 'more' with a down arrow beside it, then just select the appropriate option.

If you already have the full data downloaded, I don't think you need to do so again, I'd just guess you could download the installer and run it.
