Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

Hi everyone,

we've released the 0.7 version a couple of minutes ago, here's the changelog:

- Back/Forward navigation in the Store section
- Import Folder - it is now possible to import a game which is not compatible with the client, by clicking the game in the Library section and choosing ‘Import Folder’ from the More dropdown
- Startup page option - it is now possible to decide if the client should start on LIBRARY page, STORE page, or continue previous session
- Search option - you can press enter in the search field to continue searching in the Store
- Option to Show Game Folder added to MORE menu
- New sidebar sorting options (sort by name)
- External links will now be forwarded to the system browser
- Wishlist option added to the LIBRARY menu
- Community option in the STORE menu
- Forum Replies option in the ACCOUNT menu
- Option to keep saves, when uninstalling a game
- Windows: starting the client when another instance is already running should now open the running instance (rather than displaying error message)
- Improved ‘Last Played’ information, which should now show the time of the user stopped playing the game, rather than started playing the game
- Fixed uninstallation issues on Windows
- Fixed an issue which prevented using Paypal, when buying a game
- Fixed an issue which prevented from displaying Terms and Agreements when registering new account
- Fixed some issues when installing and uninstalling DLCs
- Bugfix: client will now not allow dragging elements onto its window
- Fixed memory leaks, causing to crash the application when downloading lots of games
- Fixed a bug which was causing the client to crash on exit
- Fixed an issue, which sometimes caused the client to duplicate the news on game view

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

Geralt_of_Rivia: here be words about nglide
Hm, that worked, thanks. Still get the error if I try to launch the exe directly or make my own shortcut, but idgaf.
Galaxy Client doesn't show all of my games. I have 17 games on my account, the client lists only 12. For example new Grim Fandango is missing.

First post. Not all games are supported by Galaxy yet.
Question for other Alpha testers out there. Does anyone else send their computer into hibernation rather than shut it off completely while Galaxy is running, and do you have issues with reconnecting after resuming operation?

I usually have the client set to the store page, and when resuming from hibernation I am always greeted with a button asking to connect, rather than it just remembering the last state and connecting automatically (a la Steam).

However, today I had something a little more interruptive. I had put my computer into hibernation while Galaxy was set to a game page, and because of this (I think) I could not select the store or library pages to get to the login screen. This meant I could access my installed games, but the library and store functions were locked.

Closing and restarting cleared the issue.

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem? Yes, a ticket has been submitted.
Used to use sleep instead of hibernation and keep my laptop up this way for days, sometimes even weeks. Galaxy does not reconnecting itself for me as well and have to do it manually everytime. Never faced issue with store or library you've mentioned though. Usually leaving Galaxy on random community pages, will try on a game page tonight and see what happens.

update:
No problems at all, even auto-reconnected for the very first time I belive.. (not so sure about, keeping Galaxy open in systray and usually have to reconnect manually)

update#2:
Leaving client on game settings page did the trick, had to restart to get connected.

I would love to test this. So how do you get invited, I did sign up for the Galaxy Client Closed Alpha when it was up on the front page.

They go out in batches. Not sure when the next one will be sent. Once you get it it will be added to your GOG account.
Wow, I thought this platform was supposed to launch last August. Especially I thought i read somewhere that Lauren Studios was working to get Divinity Sin to work on the platform.

Hopefully it means it will be a platform that can compete against Steam. - I have signed up for the alpha and if I get in then I will see.
when can we expect a new build? I'm excited to test new things
Looks like a new batch of games have been made Galaxy-compatible, I'm seeing Grim Fandango, the Cinemaware titles, Desperados 2, Original War, Freespace, and more in my library now, though I may have overlooked some of those originally.

Any update on a Linux build? Would love to test that now that I've moved more to Linux.
Hello gentleman,

I'm testing the latest version, and noticed something weird - which I'm not sure if was already reported and if I'm doing something wrong: My library in Glaxy Client doesn't displays some games that I have - such as Legend of Grimrock 2 and Age of Wonders for example.

They're ok in the website library, but when I try to install them through GoG Galaxy Client, they're not there... Could you please give me a help on this one, if I'm doing something wrong or if it's really a bug to be fixed / reported?

Thanks!
Bispo

Hello Bispo. As noted in the first post of this thread, not all games are currently supported on the alpha version of the Galaxy client. As the client is updated, more and games will be supported.
Sorry for that Gragar, haven't noticed this issue posted, before creating mine. Thanks a lot ;)
