The developers of Death's Door were recently informed that the game lacked an update and Galaxy achievements. They promptly addressed these issues (they didn't even know that Galaxy achievements were a thing) and I think this sort of attitude should be rewarded.

So given that the game is also meant to be pretty great, I am donating 10 copies to my fellow Goglodytes.

** RULES **
The giveaway is open to everyone. Your chat needs to be set to public or failing that, add me as a friend.
If you have a separate account for your games, let me know in advance.
Do not make offensive posts, we here at GOG are all part of the same big family and any malcontents shall be smited by the mighty GOGBear himself.
Winners will be picked through the use of random.org

*** LET THE FUN BEGIN... ***

You are an Indiana Jones type character (give yourself a cool name) and have entered a dark, dank tunnel in search of the Elixir of Youth.
In one hand you hold a sputtering torch, in the other your trusty whip. You have a revolver holstered on your hip with three bullets in it.
You look around and ahead of yourself...

The tunnel is 7 feet in width and approximately 12 feet in height, your feeble torch failing to properly illuminate the ceiling. The walls are covered with vines and slimy lichen.
You are stood on a narrow path leading into a cavern 20 feet ahead of you. There is a faint light emitting from the cavern and the sound of running water.
The pathway is made of slippery pavestones, three across and stretching as far as you can see towards the far cavern.
Rivulets of dirty, stinking water run either side of the pathway.

You hear many various sounds from your dark surroundings. Scrapings, slithering, squelching and God knows what else.

Giant spider webs criss-cross the path in several places. You also see wooden poles rising from the dirty water to the sides up towards the ceiling.

What is your first move? Tell me in your post and let us see what the Dice of Fate decide!

******* ******* *******

Just to confirm, how you fare in the tunnel has no bearing on whether you win a copy of the game or not. As has already been stated, winners will be chosen with random.org instead. This is just for a bit of fun.

Good luck to one and all!
While looking through the place, Martin McSquabblegold can't but think his own home should look like this by now, after all those months of neglect going around the world to find some treasure. Will this time be the good one?

Moving on all fours on the path of pavestones to avoid nasty accidents, he attempts to light the webs on fire with the torch, trying to see better and to discourage possible hostile residents. If all else fails, a sounding bang from the gun should do the trick... hopefully.
Alas, running isn't an option, considering the pointy friends on the sides.

(Thank you a lot for the opportunity, I'd really like to play this game. I have been following news on the Devolver channel, and it seems quite good. Tippping my hat for the classy devs as well, it's rare to see them so dedicated to this platform.)
Thank you Doc for reaching out to the developer and getting Galaxy achievements. As well as the generous giveaway.

My name is Indigo Joan and my first step is to whip the wooden poles so I can swing across the slippery pavestones into the cavern's entrance.

Good luck to the other participants.
10 copies of a beautiful game is worth the risk, go participate now!
A fun game and a giveaway!
Let's try my luck with this one... I'm mostly in to enjoy the game, but I won't reject any prize this time :)
My character is François de Loire, the famous French adventurer, hated by fellow adventurers, but loved by journalists and gullible women.

He studies his surroundings and, after kneeling to mumble a short prayer, pockets his revolver, burns one of the webs with the torch and rushes through the corridor, with the whip ready in his hand to face any sudden obstacle he might encounter.

I am a bit torn....while I am glad they updated their game, i'm not much of a fan of achievements.
(I think they're used more by game companies/game stores to lure people into spending more on games/etc, sort of akin to their implementation of loot boxes).

Still, good for those who like/want them, and good on the devs for doing everyone a solid like this. :)

Hello, my name is Expendable Hiro

Seeing as my torch is possibly failing and whips/revolvers don't work against them:
I try to find a more reliable source of light before entering, lest a Lurking Grue find me while inside o.0
(in case it wasn't obvious, I am in if that is ok and I am eligible :))

I am in.

Let's see. My name is Fish Cavendish the Unlucky. Since I'm a not so successful adventurer, I'm going to play it nice and slow this time. I slowly inch my way down the path while thwacking my whip in front of me. I'm trying to activate potential traps and hopefully avoid them.
Can I participate just for fun? I don´t want a new game right now, since my backlog is huge.

Yes, you can....just say something like "Not In" (minus the quotes) or something similar at the top of your post, and then just play along like everyone else. :)

I think, I´ll do that. My thought was not to overcomplicate the process for Doc0075.
Cole "The Cliffjumper" Jensen enter the tunnel with one thing in mind: get the Elixir of Youth. But is it real? Does it so what its name suggests? What will Cole do when he gets it? Will he fall into temptation and drink it himself? Or will he keep it and make sure it doesn't fall on the wrong hands?

No time to think of it. Now what matters is the challenge ahead. Slippery pavestones, wooden poles? Nah, he'll use the water. He bets it leads to a waterfall inside the cavern, after all the Cliffjumper nickname didn't come because of him using traditional methods. Being fearless and taking a risk is ironically what's been keeping him alive!

Thank you Doc for another wonderful giveaway and for bringing another fun game with it.
"Truckstop" Smith cautiously inches forward and using the feeble light from his torch inspects the wooden poles muttering to himself "Why did it have to be spiders"?
The renowned and highly respected philandering adventurer Oddy Oddborn enters the cave, sees all the cobwebs, and starts screaming with the voice of a frantic school girl: "Begone, hairy eight-legged spawn of hell!" He throws the torch as far as he can down the tunnel.

EDIT: Not in. Participating just for fun.

Oh, that looks like a nice indie game, I'm in thanks.

I'm not sure about the scene, it seems quite a trap..
I'll try setting one of the poles on fire, if it's not too wet.
Maybe it will light the place better.. expecially the ceiling.
For days, Wigglebuns McGuybeard had sat on cramped bi-motor airplanes that in no way complied to EASA regulations, sweaty buses that likely had seen the dawn of the steam age, and on all-around uncomfortable crash-prone jeeps. all to arrive at the near-mythical location described in the theoretical groundwork laid by Dr. Prof. Dan G.R. Noodels, renowned historian and lifelong friend.

Promises of countless treasures, including the legendary Elixir of Youth, lay now within reach. Ah, the fabled Elixir, whose ambosia-like liquid was said to taste divine when accompanied by a slice of orange and cream-crackers with cheese. But all ancient texts also indicated that great peril awaited wannabe trespassers and the occasional up-to-no-gooders... great ingenuity and improvisation skills would be required. And those McGuybeard possessed, a lifetime spent addressing complex life issues with nothing but a pack of bubblegum and his trusty pocket whip. His motto, "in the arena of wits, I fight unarmed".

With limited resources (all else spent or bartered away during the journey), he would have to make do, once more. The sounds of monstrous creatures all around, and a smell to match the riverways of Venice on a hot summer day, McGuybeard took one of the bullets out of his pistol, and tied it to the end of his bullwhip. Any reptilian nightmare that stood in his way would be about to taste lead at the speed of sound (while respecting the Reuse-Reduce-Recycle rule). Any giant arachnids, on the other hand, would be abducted against their will to power Prof. Noodels's recent spidermilk-farming doomed-to-fail commercial endeavour / hobby.

With completely unfounded confidence, McGuybeard took a brave first step into the dimly-lit path of mysteries, without any spare batteries to fuel the waning flames of his electrical torch. A quick slip and a nasty fall into the private water closet of *something unfathomable* could await him just around the next bend...

Tbh I think Doc likes to read the entries, and as such doesn't mind a few extra posts.
That said: you forgot to write not in in post 12. ;)

"It should reside in a building full of antiquities!"
