fr33kSh0w2012: And don't get me started on what Bethsoft did with Oblivion's real time shadow system!

Remember they Promised us this! I Bought the game JUST TO SEE THIS EFFECT! and found out the Pricks scrapped it!

Niggles: I played Rage for what it was - a shooter - didnt expect deep story or anything. If someone just plays it as a shooter, IMHO its a decent game :)

realkman666: If you rush it, it's probably tolerable.
Its was a pretty good adrenalin rush over the weekend .and for free.

Funny thing, after I posted, I did load up the old NES and played Bubble Bobble. It was pretty bad. lol. ah nostalgia. I guess that's what 8 y/o me thought was fun. I also enjoyed He-Man, so I guess I had poor taste and was easily amused. come to think of it, not much has changed....
Glad you liked it. Your post of bubble bobble reminded me of it. XD

I'm honestly only familliar with the dos version of the game from watching the ADG review. Never knew about it as a kid.

AquaticIdealist: Final Fantasy III on DS. I know, someone's going to stab me for that, but I've enjoyed some of the Final Fantasy Games, especially Final Fantasy V and VI for the GBA, but III was not only tedious after a certain part of the game, but also felt like a series of lame plot twists and a needlessly combat focused ending. I expected a better story, but I guess that's the harm of expectations.
Final Fantasy 3 was the worst in the series until 13 came around. Mechanically, it is the bastard child of them.

Oh yeah, you're right. Derp.
Just stumbled over a lets play and would add it to my list: F.E.A.R.
I dunno, maybe its all the hype that the game got but damn was it boring. In retrospect i only remember offices, office floors, office supplies, blocked office doors and then some more offices. Plus cliche-horror-girl and lots of shooting. The shooting was fun but i was completely bored by the environments by the end. And the horror elements felt really tacked on and ineffective, at least for someone who has seen lots of horror movies. I wouldn't call it a bad game overall, like said, the shooting was done well and the enemy AI was nice, it was just disappointing after all that buildup.

Just bought Rage not too long ago myself. I'm enjoying it too, mostly. great gunplay and smart enemies.
CS:GO i bought it but i got headache when playing :(
Ultimately, the Metro Redux bundle. Was too short as a game, needed steam, gave me a hell of an adventure (key was duplicate and needed retailer replacement), combat was strange, Nikki was not romanceable. Maybe i should have grabbed the Evil Within, instead.

By all accounts, Evil Within will disappoint you, too.

If you want an engaging dark action adventure, have you played the Dead Space games? I really like the first one.

+1. Thanks for letting me know. And for the suggestion, too!

JudasIscariot: Tek-War...yes, to this day I regret purchasing it :/
I wish someday we all could buy William Shatner's TekWar and Witchaven series from GOG.com.

Yes, it's an awfully bad game, but it blew my mind when my friend showed it to me for the first time.

And I waited for 2 years to get a Pentium PC only to start Witchaven game (it WAS a decent game when it came out).

Please, please bring Capstone game, help community to complete Build engine games, I trust you can pull the right strings ;)

Oh. Good thing I ignored most of the dialogue and made sure to shoot things as often as possible then :-P

Niggles: I played this game during a free Steam weekend for it.Maybe im in the minority, but i quite enjoyed it (yes the driving bits were a bit naff but hey....) - but you need to play it on hard (cant remember exactly the difficulty settings but you need to ramp it to the top or 2nd to top difficulty ). Had no issues with the graphics (unlike a lot of reports) - started and finished the campaign during that weekend :).
Yea, I have finished Rage twice now - iD shooters sort of have that effect on me, yes, including Doom 3. While there was a lot of pointless downtime in Rage (I could really do without the open world aspect), the quest hubs were actually nice, minigames were good fun to play (even the racing was decent for a bit... Before it became tedious anyway), but the meat of the game - the shooting - was just as exceptional as ever. Addition of multiple ammo types and various inventory toys which helped you kill dudes helped tremendously. Rage is actually my goto example when someone mentions that console constrols can't handle complex FPS games, it's just a bit of a shame it uses regenerating health, the game has all the pieces in place for medpacks to work well. And altho textures looked like ass up close, megatexture technology - or whatever iD called it - made for quite beautiful scenery. And, to be perfectly honest, when I'm playing games, I don't tend to stick my face into walls, but I do tend to notice the overall look of a location.

Metro is really best played on the Ranger mode - the one without any HUD, yes. And the game is bloody infuriating by default (I love it anyway). And yeah, Evil Within got extremely poor reception. Dead Space is fantastic as mentioned above. Then there's Alien: Isolation which is my surprise of the year.

I think I'm addicted to Humble Bundle - I pick up most with any decent games. All it does is add to the backlog and I really shouldn't afford it in money or time.
