Will GOG release a gamepad like steam.

They already did! :D
Very very unlikely.

First of all there are/were no rumors or anything hinting in that direction at all.

Secondly neither current CD Project games nor the both known (Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077) upcoming games "scream" gamepad.

Also many of the old games in GOG's catalogue don't offer gamepad support and would prove very very hard to port to gamepad compability.

Also regarding GOG's general userbase - to my (subjective) awareness most of the users including me are the the Keyboard+Mouse fraction.

Finally regarding economies of scale and offering a hardware product for a competitive price i can't see GOG competing with Steam/Valve or Microsoft regarding the very widely accepted and used xbox360 controllers on PC - meaning giving their potential buyers they wont be able to at least offer an "as good" product for at least "the same" price (optimally ofc either way better product same price or same product cheaper price or even better product better price ^^ but ya this all seems really unrealistic taking all constraints into account)

So ya guess my answer is rather no , not gonna happen and not seeing any reason/hints why it would/should/could happen within the next 2 years
Even if they're (secretly) planning to design and produce something like that, I speculate it won't be done before the release of Galaxy.
I hope not, if it would require the use of an online client (like Galaxy) for full functionality. I don't want PC gaming peripherals becoming store or service specific, soon we will have different gamepads for Steam, Windows Store, EA Origin, UPlay etc... Why not then have separate graphics cards as well for different games bought from different stores?
GOG is a small company, they can't afford to throw away money for such things. Developing hardware is a costly endeavor.

What I don't get is the people who are vehemently against even just the idea of possibly needing a gamepad to play. There are plenty of games on GOG that play infinitely better that way than with ye olde KB+M; in fact, I'd feel like a contortionist in some without my 360 pad. KB+M definitely has its place, but it certainly is not the be-all, end-all solution to everything.

I LOVE IT! I'LL TAKE 3!
What does GOG need with a gamepad? For all those adventure games, strategies, RPGs etc.? I mean, I don't actually think gamepads are any good for anything, but even if we were to assume they have some use, it would be genres that are by far the minority of the GOG catalogue. And what would be the point of GOG making their own pad I can't even begin to fathom.

Probably not. CD Projekt Red (GOG's parent company) is a game developer, not a game equipment developer.

Certainly. It all depends on the type of game you're going to use the controller in; point & click adventure or strategy games with a gamepad? Or on the other hand, racing & flight sim with KB+M? FPS games seem to be a middle ground: I can't even fire a weapon around a target, let alone position the crosshair on it, but others seem to do well enough.

The Lego games. All the driving/racing games. The platformers and metroidvanias. The shootem ups.

yes i'm kinda weird that way too :D. I actually own 3 wireless xbox360 pads as i'm owning a xbox 360 too and i have a bluetooth dongle for them but i rarely use them ^^. Dunno only in Trine, Pes and NBA - that's it ^^. But well i have to admit for games like Rise of the Tomb Raider or Witcher 3 - a) using a controller wouldn't come to my mind at all and b) in this games i actually tested it anyway and found k&m way superior but ya might be just the old habits there :D

The Lego games... maybe? I don't know- the few I played worked perfectly well with K+M. Driving/racing- don't play them so I wouldn't know. There's not so many here though. Platformers- I'd rather watch the Catwoman movie again than ever play a platofrmer with a gamepad again. Shootem ups- I don't play them, so I couldn't say.

Anyway, it's still a small part of the catalogue, but even if it were 50%- what's the point of a special GOG controller? There's no shortage of pads. Whyat would be special about this to warrant making it? A pad that would be in permanent beta? Would it have special buttons for features that only worked for a few days and then were promptly forgotten?

Even if it managed to be a decent controller, that begs the question of who would buy it.
