It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I just ran a test for you with some things I haven't downloaded yet to see what is happening. I am capable of 1.25MB/s
GoG downloader is running 1.18MB/s which is acceptable, I shut that down and immediately started another file through GOG galaxy and it is bouncing around between 0.1MB/s and 0.5MB/s and is mainly at 0.2MB/s to 0.3MB/s which is only at about 20% speed which is completely unacceptable.

This makes galaxy unusable at this point.

USA No Proxies, this is a direct comparison to your files so short of you having the files hosted it different places for the Galaxy and downloader the galaxy client is seriously broken throttling us at about 20%

Johny.: Guys, could you please compare your download speeds in Galaxy to:
- Download speed for in-browser (or some downloader) website installer download from https://www.gog.com/account
- Download speed for other non-GOG stuff

and reply here? Thanks.

edit: Please include country you're at in the reply. And if you're using proxies.

OldFatGuy: Well it's definitely something going on. I've tried to DL multiple games and the speeds are all less than 10% of what I normally get. I hope this isn't the new norm.
Could you confirm this too? Please check downloading speed in browser (not gog downloader) from https://www.gog.com/account and same installer in Galaxy Client.
Yeah, we like things slow here in the Milky Way... but Andromeda is coming right for us, full throttle, like a speed demon. 4 billion years left and counting.
BTW I forgot to check the browser, it is cranking out 1.2MB/s as well as was the GOG down loader.
GOG Galaxy is seriously broken.

Also for what its worth it will jump to the max when it first starts but then drops, its like galaxy kicks in a throttle or then starts doing something to slow it down to no end within the program.

Actually they're approaching each other at 250,000 mph (400,000 km/h). ;)

Thank you for report. Do you think it started in recent weeks, or was it always like that?

I won't go into details, but we're not throttling anyone on purpose. ;) Unless you checked bandwidth limit option in Galaxy 1.2 settings.

I've only been using my browser. I don't use Galaxy and use FireFox with Down them All and I always got between 10-15 MB/s when downloading here. But then last night no matter what game I was trying to download (using the browser) I was getting between 1 and 2 MB/s.

I just now downloaded two games and with both I got normal speeds. So I guess something was going on last night?? I dunno. But it was slow downloading last night.

And they'll both merge and form... Milkdromeda! :D

So yesterday you were downloading at 1.2Mbps? That's my regular top speed. :P
For me it was always slow as hell but until a few days ago I was on a 1.5 mbps net and now 10 mbps - I am using 1.1.30 and unless I missed it there were no settings for that

You may spend your time arguing over details (like frames of reference), but we both know you need to fix it asap - give or take a million years, since you're the *alleged* "creators of Galaxy" :P.

I'm assuming you're talking about the download speeds only, because I can think of a few APIs which you are throttling on purpose :)... send my regards to the ever vigilant GOGBear.

Which API's in this case, Why??

Thanks for all your feedback, you're awesome users. :) Giving some tests jsauerii and OldFatGuy did additionally, our team will be able to know what to fix. :)

Certainly it's not a desired situation, that someone have lower dowlnoad speeds in GOG Galaxy Client - I hope it will get better soon!

jsauerii: Which API's in this case, Why??
Some of the APIs that Galaxy uses for different purposes - one I can put my finger on is the products api:
https://gogapidocs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/galaxy.html#api-gog-com

Why? I haven't yet asked the GOGBear(s) responsible for it, but I guess they want to limit the usage to what the Galaxy client would typically need. If too many requests come in from the same IP, they get blocked... nicely, with an appropriate HTTP code, but still blocked. Push it too much and you get a temporary ban.

So I had to slow down to Galaxy level... and it's sorta.. slow,... very... very... slow.
