DubConqueror: Out of curiosity I opened the Origin client just now and am offered to install the EA App without any opt-out option. The pop-up to install the EA App blocks access to anything else in the Origin client and on top of that warns me that if I install the EA App, Origin will be deinstalled, but there isn't ANY option given to NOT install the EA App (but for closing the Origin program and using neither, thus blocking access to my EA games).
If you add <Setting key="MigrationDisabled" type="1" value="true"/> to your C:\ProgramData\Origin\local.xml you can keep Origin.
DubConqueror: Findings thus far:
- no option to open the App in my library, it always opens with an advertisement page
- no option to hide games
- big ugly icons, no option to pick icon size
- Crysis 3 won't start (it ran fine through Origin), citing 'a technical error'. No shit, it's technical! I thought it was psychological and the game was shy.
- the EA App asks what location I want to install it, I pick C:\Games yet ignores that and still installs in Program Files.
And they say they launched the new app because they 'recognized the limitiations of this platfrom [Origin]'. The new EA App is FAR MORE LIMITED. What a piece of sh*t it is.
I tried it out and deinstalled it last year. I thought if this is the true release, they would have ironed out above limitations, but no, nothing seems to have improved since the Beta.
Yeah it's really bad, tons of features have been removed or broken. Origin is much better.
