"The original Freedom Planet was modeled as a tribute to Sega Genesis platform games," developer Stephen DiDuro says on the Freedom Planet 2 site. "We've learned what works and what doesn't, what's fun and what's frustrating, what we should expand on and what we can afford to lose. With all of this in mind, we feel that we are ready to bid farewell to nostalgia and create a sequel that will define Freedom Planet's identity as a franchise."

PC Gamer: Freedom Planet 2 announced

Did the game devs mention a GOG version by any chance?

Why do you think they won't release the sequel on GOG? The first game is here, so why not FP2?

We have Costume Quest here, but not Costume Quest 2. We Have Overlord here, but not Overlord 2. We have Risen 1 and 2 here, but not Risen 3. We have Lucius here, but not Lucius 2. And so on and so on.

Thanks for the info. Did publishers say anything about why they didn't release those games on GOG? Any reasons?

Yeah, that's what worries me. GOG is still missing a lot of sequels. Plus they only mentioned "Wii U" on the game dev's site.

Now it worries me too. :(
I made a thread regarding FP2 in the FP boards on here, but okay. Yes, the game is slated for a GOG release, according to Strife.

I'm aiming to have the game in beta by 2017. It will be released on PC/Mac/Linux first with both Steam and DRM-free options, and then we will place our priority on either the Nintendo Wii U or the Nintendo NX depending on the release date of the latter and what tools are at our disposal at the time.
So don't worry about it.

Where does it say GOG? DRM-free does equal GOG. There are hundreds, probably thousands, of DRM-free games that are not on GOG.

It is most likely the only two DRM-free solutions they offer as for the moment: GOG and Humble Bundle. Excluding GOG would keep them with Humble Bundle, and in his wording, "options" is a plural, meaning there will be more than one DRM-free service hosting the game. Who knows, the game could expand to further places, but I'm saying its most likely.

Also, if you were wondering, there's an update to Freedom Planet 1 coming soon. It'll hit GOG's shelves according to the developer Seraphna, on the FP forums on suckeam.

Sorry. Next time I should check sub-forums before posting on general section. So GOG release is confirmed? :)
Nice to hear a sequel is being developed. Hope it comes to GOG in future.

Overdoing it a bit hanging on the word 'options'. Clearly he's using that because Steam + DRM'Free = plural.
But why would he add "DRM-free options" as a plural that counts Steam in when he mentioned Steam beforehand? I'll go in ahead and ask about GOG specifically getting a release.
