Trilarion: I have no idea of how the Steam forums are. But you can expect censorship and limited freedom of what you can say. Whiny liberalistic snowflakes may mark you as nationalist, racist, xenophob, nazi or fascist for something you say. The best may be not to post here.

firstpastthepost: Or nationalist, racist, xenophob, nazi fascists may mark you a whiny liberalistic snowflake. It kind of goes both ways. Hence the ban on discussing politics. :)
Imo they could make a small containment subforum for such and monitor it closely. That way people with such opinions could express them away from others and staff could monitor such for anything illegal/truly bad/etc.

CordisDia: because i said that one of my ancestors participated in battle of Vienna against Otoman empire ...
Can you actually prove that? Sounds somewhat made up tbh, like normies claiming descent from royalty.

LootHunter: ...
Easier. Before Trump was who he now is, Tweeter could ban him.
Today - Trump can ban Tweeter.

There never was and is any "freedom of speech" in this equation.

Enebias: By the beard of Odin, please lock this thread!
I never could wrap my head around why people who dislike a topic will come into it and expose themselves to it'c content just to ask for it to be locked. Why not simply walk away to another part of the forum/another thread? :\

GameRager: Social platforms may be privately owned but the major ones serve very important functions/are essential to many people and their access to such should be guaranteed(unless they break the law of their country/etc) imo.
I was contrasting the discussion of free speech being limited by private ownership in virtual space with real life locations. My point being that it isn't uncommon for freedom of speech to be limited for any number of reasons in any number of spaces.

You may have a point about social platforms being essential communications channels and that special rules should apply for freedom of speech, but if that were the case they would need to be specially classified as such. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of classifying certain platforms kind of like they were a utility and making them subject to special regulation (by that I mean regulating them to be treated as an essential service and not imposing a ton of other rules about how they operate). That is a conversation that is probably long overdue as it pertains to social media.

Sounds good and we agree for the most part. :)

Now on to crack the whip in silicon valley and get our rights......*cracks whip*
If you want a forum where you can get as political as you like, say anything you want (even racial slurs) and constantly complain about "SJWs!!!" and modern gaming, I would HIGHLY recommend RPG Codex (sadly).

Is RPGcodex really that bad?
The threads I've read there were somewhat silly with their intense discussion of rpgs, but not that extreme...but the "General discussion" section is apparently not visible to the public...I suppose that's where the really extreme stuff is?

I barely ever go into the general section because it's an even worse cesspool, but the game forums have everything I just mentioned. Read the thread about Arkane's new game "Deathloop," lots of complaints about both characters in the trailer being Black with people using the n-word and everything else.

Negative answer assumes a politican, who never lies and is never corrupt, which is like "flying fish".

So are you saying it's sadly because it's a bad site in general or BECAUSE people can talk about those things?

Such language is bad but imo if a site allows it I have no problem with people saying it as long as I can avoid it/hide such comments.
