Anyway, for shits and giggles I've just done a quick like-for-like comparison of Vanilla Rollcage against Redux, and there really are some noticeable visual improvements. The vanilla screen is upscaled from 1280x720 because that's the highest 16:9 resolution the game supports (it actually supports 1280x1024, but not 1920x1080).

Never hear of them. But I'll try them out, thanks for the links.
Awesome! I remember those! Thanks for the heads up :)
Awesome, I really liked this game. Gonna try the redux

korell: Just found these links this evening, for both Rollcage and Rollcage Extreme (Stage 2), in a remastered form (improved graphics and sound and updated for more modern PCs), and as free downloads.
Brilliant find, thanks :-)
I have no idea how I used to play these games with the keyboard alone. I remember beating the league games (at least I did in 'Stage 2' anyway) and I had no controller on my PC at the time. From last night's short play of these games I found it much easier to play with analog controller settings instead.

Anyway, reading more on the Steam community group, Rob does say that Sony do still own the IP for Rollcage, but whilst he's only doing minor improvements to the games, which are no longer available to buy, and for no profit, it seems that Sony don't care about him making them available. However, this could always change in the future (if they re-release them, for example) and if he does receive a cease and desist letter then he'll have to take them down.

I just found out about this, however it seems that the second blog entry doesn't exist anymore and I can't find any mentioning of it on the authors website.

Does anyone know if he had to remove the blog/files for Stage 2? And more importantly, does anyone still have the files to share?

I always considered the sequel to be much more enjoyable, it would be a shame if they weren't available anymore.

edit: Nevermind, the files are still up, it just took a small google search to find the direct link -> http://codemonkey.me.uk/rollcage_extreme.php (still wondering why the blog post isn't available anymore though)

back when i was in highschool there was this kid we called "rollcage" because he came to scool one day with a rollcage installed on his ford focus.
I downloaded them and both looks great.
Thanks for necro'ing this thread. I still own the original copy on my PS1. Seeing this brought back is great news. I played league and thought I was going to be first but some jerk AI thought it would be funny to block my car from getting to the finish line... he parked it in front of me, and let two others go first. What an asshole AI car. Then I quit. =P
Cool! Never seen this. Lets see how it goes in Wine!

As someone who has no problems with abandonware as I don't consider it piracy (which I do have problems with), I also give thanks for necroing this thread. :)
