Leonard03: fyi in about 1/2 hour I'll be logging off for the night.
Night, it's barely 5pm in Ottawa. Going to a Senators game, or what?

avatar
dedoporno: Don't you remember? Dessimu believe flub was super-scum when they were buddies. Super-scum has got to be more scum than other scum.
Lol. I screwed up the format of my post, and missed the chance to add a better punchline, but at least the meaning came across.

avatar
dedoporno: So what order would you prefer then (I already know you wanted Lift, but maybe that changed with his claim)?

But only in hindsight. No lynch under specific circumstances and follow up can be equally devastating and you can't know that as well.

Possible.... A good Town player is as inconvenient for scum as a good suspected scum player is for the town. I doubt Lift will be left alone Tomorrow if he / his replacement is still in-game.
1) Interesting question. Maybe I know and just don't want to say, and maybe I really don't know.

2) True, I'm just less optimistic that lynch flip info is necessarily of greater value than stalling for time than I know others are by default. As always it depends on the circumstances. I just...tend to think there are 3 mafia + 1 SK (and possibly another neutral, as CSP and I discussed), which I think means town has some firepower.

That speaks to slowing the game down as time = info as much as NKs, but obviously the degree of confidence one feels about the premise will influence views of the viability.

3) I'm less worried about the burden - I've been able to address agent's play, whereas adalia struggled to cover when he stepped in as a sub, and a new sub here would already be hampered by what Lift claimed. So if Lift is scum, they're not coming in with much wiggle room to lie, whereas an active, engaged townie could at least rely on the truth setting him/her free. Maybe.

dedoporno: ...If the forum tag is correct and he lives in India it's the middle of the night there right now but his last post was 10 hours ago. Stuff happened since then and I saw his green button turn on and off a few times after my last response to him so I know he was at least online.
Hmmm...

bler144: Night, it's barely 5pm in Ottawa. Going to a Senators game, or what?
Eat some dinner and then Board Game night.
avatar
bler144: dess is dancing
Dancing is good! I mean, real dancing. Metaphorical one is interesting.

avatar
Leonard03: No

I ate it.
I only hope it was delicious @_@

avatar
bler144: <...about agentcarr...>
I believe you and feel my question was unnecessary after all.

avatar
bler144: Yogs, may Hijack enter the game just long enough to post "WIFOM" at Dess? No? Well crap.

WIFOM.
Well, I think I get it. Scum might make such a slip. Though I am not scum and it felt right to ask.

I know for sure that after the game you and/or Hijack himself (it's him, right?) will have to tell me, how Hijack fits in here!

avatar
bler144: I have written a number of poems. For $100, I will agree not to post them here.

How else is a poet supposed to make money?
I think you will starve with me as a client.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: So, I'm pondering, and before making my decision I'd like an answer to why he didn't ask for a replacement since he saw he wouldn't be able to actively partake in the game.
This. Or why did he not inform us in the beginning or later, when he found he would have little time? Replacement is not necessary in my opinion, participation can be small, yet still rich.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Could he be looking to get lynched? And if yes, why?
He has a role that wins the game if he is lynched? Like... An opposite to survivor. I think I remember such role - Jester was it? But having such a role somehow hardly fits the flavour. So I don't think he is looking to be lynched.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: 1. Lifthrasil eight (8) posts on D1, four (4) on D2

2. The degree of lurking seems quite unlike and excessive for Lifthrasil, given his belief and repeated statements that lurking is beneficial to scum and detrimental to town, and him being a firm proponent of lynching the lurkers in lack of better candidates.

3. Now, if he didn’t find anything scum-worthy enough about drealmer7’s arguments, another question would be why he didn’t try to persuade people to get off his wagon...

4. He said that he didn’t have anything more than his feeling about flubbucket, and didn’t think it enough to convince others. But he didn’t even try, which is quite unlike him.

5. The above combined feel like he wasn't actually scum-hunting, or even particularly involved in the game in general. He comes across more like a spectator who passively watched things unfold; also quite unlike him.

6. This made me consider the possibility he might be a Survivor of some sort

7.His very first post (#252), again in-character (but also the only one in D2), says he’ll go look at “who pushed too strongly on drealmer”. And comes back with Hunter65536, and votes him for four reasons. I don’t know about others, but he wouldn’t be my first choice if my criterion was what he stated.

8. ...he seems oddly deaf to others’ counter-arguments for voting Hunter65536.

9. In fact, this “pop-in, make a short post, vote, pop-out” play he seems to favor, even more so on D2, seems quite odd overall

10. And to this point, it’s unclear to me what about flubbucket it was that turned his initially not-serious vote to one he was comfortable to leave on him till the end of D1.
1. 12 posts in total out of 360 at the time of your impressions is indeed very little. And Lifthrasil usually posts more. Real life struggling as per his claim? Question then is why did he not inform us he would be somewhat absent?

2. I agree it is unlike for Lifthrasil to be lurking. When you also add that Lift thinks lurkers to be more scummy, it raises the same question - why did Lift not inform us he would be absent much (if he is town)?

3. I think to start persuading people to get off someone's wagon, a player must be pretty sure that this someone is Town. Which for town players is almost impossible to know and for scum players is too risky and not in their agenda.

4. "But he didn't even try" part sounds interesting

5. I agree, it is unlike him. Making not many posts D1 at least and most of them being related to flavor tells me he had time to post. But chose to lurk.

6. Not a survivor. Or a very bad one. Because he attracted too much attention to himself and did not do a great job to defend himself. Until the claim now.

7. If I understood it right, Hunter would not be your first choice and with that I agree. But it is hard to say what happened in Lifthrasil's head at this point.

8. Deaf he seems indeed. Even now.

9. "Pop-in, short post, vote, pop-out" play would be logical if he really had real life issues at the time. Or just not much free time. But informing us would have been in order.

10. That remains unclear. Maybe Lifthrasil just wanted to stay away from drealmer and thus, resided to his RVS vote? That would be scum behavior.

avatar
CSPVG: This is not to mention the whole, "This is intentional and I shall hold my reason as to why. I will explain either later in the game or after the game." response, which is quite strange.
I feel like at some point I will get myself killed during this game, maybe even on Night 2. Thus, I can say what the "whole response" was about. What power does simple Town player have? To die for Town. And I made a choice to try and use this power in this game. Thus, I am dancing as Bler said.
OK, I've gone through the discussion as best as I could. I'm off to bed, so I'll

Vote Lifthrasil
Alright, since no one is going to follow me into voting for Dessimu, and I am also rather ambivalent about the prospect of not having a lynch today, I'm going to go ahead and Unvote: Dessimu and Vote: Lifthrasil.

I think that several of his missteps may be related to RL stuff, but they may also not be. We'll see.
DAY END

Cease posting, and give me just a few moments...

CSPVG: Alright, since no one is going to follow me into voting for Dessimu, and I am also rather ambivalent about the prospect of not having a lynch today, I'm going to go ahead and Unvote: Dessimu and Vote: Lifthrasil.
You failed to beat Krypsyn's record but you tried hard.

I guess I'll get to see the flip after all.
At long last, the assembled faculty came to a conclusion.

“It’s her,” said CSPVG, firmly shoving Lifthrasil forward. “No doubt this time. Her hair is even curly. Kind of. I mean, it’s probably somebody else. But could still be her. I’m going to go sit down now.”

Dean Sloth slowly rose from her seat. Once again, out came the .357. “OK, you know what to do,” she barked icily, motioning the gun’s barrel towards the open window.

Lifthrasil sighed. Indeed, resigned to her fate, she knew what to do. “You make much terrible mistake,” she began slowly as she removed her heels and prepared for the dive. “I come this country, have much promise. Much money for take home. Much chance for make teach women. This day, very very sad.”

“What the hell is she even saying?” somebody whispered.

Lifthrasil shrugged and dutifully handed over her purse to the pistol-packing Dean. “No difference now. I say goodbye to esteemed comrades.”

And with that, she swandived out of the boardroom window. The loud crashing and cracking sound below could have been a breaking tree branch or a snapping femur – it was hard to tell which. As Dean Sloth slammed the window shut, everyone could hear a faint “…я сделал это для картофеля…” coming from the garden below.

“Another professor fired. Another to try and replace. Let’s pray you got it right this time,” the Dean informed the group, her face a mask of barely-contained fury.

She picked up Lifthrasil’s purse and began sorting through it. “Let’s see… potato, potato, another potato… what the hell?” She began tossing potatoes out of the purse, some of them bouncing off the now-ripe corse of Dr. Hellas. “This purse has nothing in it but fucking potatoes!”

Lifthrasil has been fired. She was: Dr. Zona Monolit, Professor of Communications (TOWN VANILLA)

After an increasingly awkward pause, Dean Sloth proceeded to have an actual, literal conniption.

It was actually quite fascinating. At one point during the shuddering, lurching exposition of facial contortions, a thick rope of some reddish, viscous fluid dripped slowly from her nose and settled on her blouse below.

“Go… to… your rooms…” she whispered spastically, her eyes pointing in different directions.

Backing away slowly, everyone did just that.

It is now night. Please cease posting, go to your threads, send in your actions, etc. I’m aiming for a quick Night – about 24 hours if we can manage it.

Standing in the foyer, propping herself against the wall, leaned one very exhausted and disheveled looking management school dean. Summoning her strength, she stood back up straight and swung her mallet, striking the six-foot tall gong she had wheeled out into the foyer.

BOOOONNGGGGG

She dropped the mallet as nine office doors swung open at once, and nine concerned-looking professors dashed out into the foyer.

“ZOMG What was that?” shouted trentonlf.

“It’s my Gong. I call him ‘Bongy’,” explained the Dean tiredly. She looked them over slowly and sighed. “Okay, which one of you is dead now?” she asked. “I forgot to lock the doors again.”

“Not me, I’m pretty sure,” said CSPVG.

“Yeah, I’m good to go,” said Leonard03.

They looked around at each other. A quick head count revealed that indeed, the newest member of the faculty was missing.

With the Dean in the lead, they slowly filed to Dr. Wissenschaftler’s office, now the residence of Dr. Kurzblau. Pushing the door open the Dean took in the scene, and then stepped aside for everyone else to see.

“Did she grow antennas?” asked Dessimu.

Dean Sloth strode into the office, where Dr. Kurzblau sat at her desk, her open mouth a ricture of horror, two long thin pieces of metal sticking out in a perfectly straight line from her ears. The Dean reached out, and with a thhhhhhhwPOPing noise, pulled one out. Shaking off the brain matter from the sharpened tip, she turned and showed it to the faculty. “Knitting needle,” she observed.

Dessimu vomited noisily onto the bookshelf.

Sighing again, the Dean began searching through bler144’s purse. Finding little worth noting, she angrily threw it into the corner. “Nothing, nothing at all,” she spat.

bler144 is dead. She was: Dr. Affe Kurzblau, Professor of Mathematics (TOWN VANILLA)

“Back to the boardroom,” demanded the Dean.

The group marched back largely in silence, although flubbucket could be heard weeping gently. Once back in the boardroom, they took their seats as the Dean padlocked the door behind them. Nobody even laughed as she slipped on a patch of squished potatoes and confetti.

“We’re really screwed, aren’t we?” asked cristigale.

“I miss my mommy,” whimpered Hunter.

“First thing I do after this is over is go on a sabbatical,” HSL informed the group.

“Me too. To Antarctica,” said dedo.

The Dean collapsed at the table, her head down on her arms, an overwhelming sense of disappointment hanging over her like a cloud. She didn’t even need to speak, as the rest of the faculty began their third day at work…

It is now Day.

You may resume posting. Be aware that deadlines remain tight, and I’m targeting either late Monday or early Tuesday at this point for the deadline. We’ll see how it goes, as I know weekends are always difficult, especially for me. Enjoy!

*rises from the dead* pass it this way!
Huzzah!

I mean, errr...Bah. Booshka.

Also, Yogs' Russian noun/verb agreement needs improvement. B-.
Damn, a possible deadline for Monday or Tuesday?

So, unless someone has something to reveal or a compelling argument to make, I still feel pretty strongly about the whole Dessimu thing.
I guess it was pretty optimistic of me to think that anyone else would be on.

This does, however, mean that I'm finally free to post as I wish.

CSPVG: Yogsloth: Tell me, in painstaking detail, about your dental health. It's very important.
Well, overall, the teeth are in pretty good shape. Never had a cavity until my mid-thirties, and even then, I’m about 50% convinced those fuzzy, blurry black-and-white images the dentist showed me didn’t have anything on them. You mean that blurry part next to the other blurry part is a hole I can’t see or feel, and you want HOW much money?

Other than that, though, I do have crippling TMJ problems on one side of my jaw, and I’m told the only thing I can do is pay five grand for a piece of plastic to stick in my mouth that may or may not help the pain and allow me to yawn without collapsing in agony.

yogsloth: <snip>
I'm not sure if that's quite painstaking enough, but I'll accept it. The yogsloth info file grows.

I'm sorry to hear about the TMJ problem. As I understand it (not just from your post), they can be pretty painful.

Have you seen any good films lately? This is also very important.
