CSPVG: Does anyone see themselves coming off either the Lifth or Hunter wagons and joining me on the Dessimu wagon?

Does anyone but bler think that going for a no-lynch scenario would be a good idea?
Unlikely, unless to avoid a no-lynch (I would also vote Hunter in this case).

Not me!
Today was somewhat strange RL day for me. I had a project to make with a group and this project turned out to be a very big pile of stinking rubbish (figuratively speaking) due to lack of certain professional knowledge. I the end I had make a request to join another group, so that I could make the best out of what little time I have left.

Ok, now I am going through posts since my last one and will try to address anything I find interesting and anything that was asked of me. Actually, I am reading stuff here for three hours already and still have hard time focusing.

avatar
bler144: None of that absolutely rules out him having drawn a scum PM, but I wouldn't look to his play for clarity.
To be certain I understand it right - by replacing agent, you also got his PM and thus, his whatever alignment in this game. Thus, if he was mafia, means you are mafia and if we are to determine if we can trust you, we may just as well take in consideration of how agent played. But for some reason you say we shouldn't look to his play. Could you give some (minor at leas) detail, as to why?

This is not to mean you are mafia, but to understand your relation to agent and maybe your place in game.

avatar
bler144: And does our benefits package include bondage and tickling with the electroshock or does that cost extra?
So, you are into kinky stuff? Affe Kurzblau, you are full of surprises!

avatar
Leonard03: I gotta say, when he didn't figure out how the sheet worked I was... a little surprised.
Surprised a little too, but agent seemed to be distracted since the beginning of the game. Speaking of agent, lets hope he's fine.

avatar
Leonard03: * my spidy sense *
Were you bit by a mutated spider?

avatar
Lifthrasil: And it is especially suspicious if the one doing it poits out how towny his behaviour is. "Would I have done this if I were scum?" is the very definition of LAMIST.

And as Hunter pointed out, Dessimu's accusation of HSL's alleged pressuring and wagon pushing was actually unjustified.

All in all Dessimu's 'analysis' reeks of grasping for straws and over-zealousity.

Therefore:
unvote Hunter
vote Dessimu
Nothing much to say here in my defense. I only think that scum wouldn't draw such "possibly LAMIST" attention to themselves early in the game. That is why my question was clear and open.

Accusation of HSL's alleged pressuring was too much amplified (I explained it a few posts below this post of Lift) and could have been mentioned in a more peaceful, level way.

Over-zealous analysis? Well, can't say it wasn't. As for straw grasping, I was corrected that HSL is not pushing Hunter as scum. By HSL and by Hunter. Which is one of teeny tiny little details that gives a better idea as to who may be town or mafia.

Your vote on me seems valid, but you could enforce it with more details (like you did on Hunter) if I am at the top of your scum list.

bler144: The theory of Plate Tectonics is a few decades away, but surely you can see that the nut cracker works more effectively than just waiting for decay to open the walnut shell long after the meat inside has gone rancid.
Sounds almost poetic.

HypersomniacLive:
This feels like reading a report from a criminologist. Rather interesting. I would like to read this again later (and a report about cristigale as well). If I have anything to ask/(dis)agree, I will do so later.

avatar
bler144: ..."us"...
Why in quotation marks?

avatar
flubbucket: Of the current wagons I would vote for Lifthrasil and of course Hunter6060842.
Only because these are two of three (mine being third) biggest wagons? Or some other reasons as well?

avatar
bler144: 2) I know that's the case, but personally I think it's a mistake. If town is only going to look at half the field, it certainly tells scum where they should hide if possible. Like when I tell my daughter in hide and seek that I'm only going to search for her in the living room. Eventually she'll figure out to just hide in a diff. room.
Good point and nice reference.

avatar
bler144: I know I'm in the minority (1 is a minority, right?), as usual, but I do think there's something to be said for serious consideration of no lynch.
This is Day 2 and we are still early in the game with much guessing and not too much of some solid information. In my mind, a lynch today suits Town's interest much better rather than no-lynch. Because we have a lot (discussions) going on now, people taking sides and a flip from any lynch should give us much valuable information to analyze on Day 3.

avatar
yogsloth: She reached into her brassiere and removed a .357 magnum revolver.
I wonder what else you're hiding O_P Won't ask "where" though.

avatar
bler144: Any particular reason you wouldn't vote Dess? Him flipping mafia would be a boon for you in particular, after all.
Valid, interesting question. But what in your opinion happens when I flip town? In case of my lynch or some other death, I will leave this WIFOM to ponder: did flubbucket express a trust in me, himself being mafia (and knowing me to be something else), to get town points; or did flubbucket honestly think my scum hunting to be genuine and it's just his sharp senses (I trusted drealmer to be town afterall, so honesty is possible)?

I hope I just did not put myself in trouble.

avatar
bler144: Hunter, what do you think of Dess?
And what do you of me, bler?
avatar
CSPVG: Does anyone see themselves coming off either the Lifth or Hunter wagons and joining me on the Dessimu wagon?

Does anyone but bler think that going for a no-lynch scenario would be a good idea?
Even though Dessimu is on my top suspect list I'd go for him last since I believe he'll be the most value lost on a potential mislynch. That's one of the reasons I prefer Hunter over him. And given that we don't have enough time to work on a new lynch (and night falls in Europe) I'm not sure even if stepping away from Lift is a good idea, regardless of his alignment because of the claimed role and the RL issues that are preventing him to participate fully.
(continuing my posting spree)

EBWOP: What do you think* of me, Bler?

avatar
bler144: And I type enough myself that including the entire text of another post is just too much text in one place.
When reading this, I thought of how drealmer likes to be analytical and that leads in him usually making big posts with much text. He even admitted once (game #35) that he sometimes expands too much. But the funny thing is how drealmer often gets himself in trouble with his long posts and you do not. HypersomniacLive was right when he said you are able to talk.

avatar
CSPVG: 1. #306 - Dessimu - ...but for the fact that you included Krypsyn in the list of people that Hyper did not talk to or mention so as not to draw their attention or draw the group's attention to them. Even if Hyper is scum, he would most likely not have known that Krypsyn was a serial killer, and would therefore not have any reason to avoid talking to him other than genuinely not having much to say to him or thinking that he was not contributing anything that could be responded to.

2. Furthermore, I don't really like you attempting to link what appeared to be a joke about hair with Krypsyn's death...

3. Also, I really don't think that you can blame anyone for going after drealmer the way almost everyone did (myself included). He was acting rather strangely yesterday.

4. #319 - Dessimu - You know, I'm still not sure how to feel about that whole day one situation.

5. #326 - Dessimu - Who is trying to hunt serial killers instead of mafia, in your eyes? I haven't seen a single person do this.
1. Underlined part: who exactly are "their" and who are "them"? I don't understand this part of sentence, please specify. Other than that, I said and meant (at the time) that "if Hyper is scum, maybe he treats Krypsyn as a wild card - either very observant, or maybe holding a role, so planned to not attract his attention on Day 1 and then kill him at Night just to be safe". Why did I say such wild theory? Because in game #35 we (me, flubbucket, Bookwyrm) killed Krypsyn for the same reasons (observant wild card). BUT... HSL has already corrected me and told that he just had nothing valuable to say to Krypsyn. And I have explained the whole Krypsyn part somewhere already. So either you really don't understand my wording, or you are painting me as scum. I would like to think this is just a misunderstanding from your side.

2. I did not link it as evidence. I said "this would suit Krypsyn's death so much". I joked about how HSL's and flubbucket's joke could relate to serious matter. Last sentence in that part of post #306 should've been the reinforcement to say "Guys, this is only joke after all". And if you knew me personally, you'd know I am not the best in telling jokes.

3. My point about drealmer and HypersomniacLive was why did HSL not place a vote on drealmer after challenging his logic? I did not blame anyone mindlessly. You have again misunderstood my post. While other players corrected me that HSL rarely votes.

4. Recap:
#39 - game began, you made strange flavor post
#46 - I place RVS vote on you, I have little to none idea of what to make of your flavor post
#118 - I still don't understand what you wanted to say with your flavor post, but I wanted to understand it. Because if you just role played, you did it in a very interesting way. So I made my interpretation. Mentioning that you present that in scummy way was my immature RVS "what if?" idea.
#123 - you take it seriously, ask me why I twist your "silly, flavour-driven post"
#125 - I feel a bit irritated because you are wrong and I tell you I did no twist. As in, did not mean that you could be the first viable scum suspect. I try to explain my post #118. Because I see that my "what if?" idea has put you off, I try to shift the talk on the right track by telling you I am interested in you flavor occupation. As in, I acknowledge that you role played and tell you it is interesting. Also, I have missed (overlooked, did not see) your RVS vote on Krypsyn, so I took suspicion on Leonard from #39 seriously. Was your vote on Krypsyn a RVS vote?
#129 - no more RVS stuff since the deadline appeared
#191 - you once again speak of my RVS "what if?" idea. I once again tell you it was not meant to be serious and not meant to paint you as scum. I also add the detail to tell you how I would act if I thought you to be scum.

To sum up... CSPVG, stop making a fuss out of RVS. Because now it feels like you yourself are looking for "reasons" to vote me. The more you talk about this recapped subject, the more suspicious I find you.

5. Lifthrasil. Why? Post #313. Some of us, other players, started talking too much about Hunter's "anime" reference.

I have something more to reply. Doing it now.
avatar
Leonard03: The claim itself doesn't really influence me in any direction, it would only matter if he claimed something besides town vanilla.
In my view, the claim isn't just about the role being claimed (though he could have made it easier on us by claiming Bulletproof Berzerker or whatever it is adalia would claim in the same shoes), but about the framing/tone, the believability, etc.

avatar
dedoporno: etc.

We do have some more hours available, but you, US people will have to make sure to secure the lynch if you want some more discussion.
So...let me get this straight. You're against no lynch (unless you've changed your position), you make a case for why Lift is a valid lynch, and then kind of smoothly slip away without actually voting him with a "you guys figure it out"?

Now, for me, vacillating whether I should vote Lift or let it go to deadlock is just what I do. And to be clear, I'm not asking you to vote him to make my decision on whether to follow through or not easier (you would, in fact only take him to L-1 in any case, correct?)

But your logic, when pieced together, strikes me as a bit odd. You can presumably understand why it might be viewed as a buddy hedging one's bets? Come around enough to say he looks lynchable, while still leaving open the door that might let him escape?

Again, it wouldn't be as notable (to me) if you hadn't established you were against a no lynch option.

avatar
Leonard03: @bler You unvoted to avoid a quick hammer, I believe. Lift has claimed now, so where's that vote going?
The options I'm weighing are Lift/Dess/no lynch in some order. I'll leave it vague for now. As we're still L-2, my vote alone is insufficient to end the day anyway, and I'd like to see others vote with some basis more concrete than "just to avoid no lynch" which is easier to pass as the hammer.

avatar
CSPVG: Does anyone see themselves coming off either the Lifth or Hunter wagons and joining me on the Dessimu wagon?

Does anyone but bler think that going for a no-lynch scenario would be a good idea?
On the first point, I'd want to see a better case for Dess than I think has been made. Lift is lurky; dess is dancing would seem the summation. All else being equal (though in this case I think the evidence, such as it is, leans slightly against Lift in any case), I tend to favor the lurker. I can understand why you might favor the opposite. ;) But in my view the dancer will more likely (though not necessarily) trip up eventually.

I think I've pushed for no lynch in 3 of the games I've been in, and not only have I never gotten anyone else to vote that way, I've never gotten anyone to acknowledge it might actually have tactical value in a scenario at hand. Polite dismissal is about what the ceiling appears to be.

But I appreciate at least the minimal support of bringing it up ;)

Are you being a dick right now or do you ask this seriously?
avatar
dedoporno: Are you being a dick right now or do you ask this seriously?
Can't it be both?

But seriously, I'm just trying to clarify. You're against no lynch, you're on an L-4 wagon, and you're not really making a push to reconcile the Dess/Hunter camps as an alternative. I'm just curious how you reconcile those.

Can I get a bump?
avatar
bler144: Can I get a bump?
No!
Oh wait...
You mean like such: Bump.

It's almost 11PM here. I have a 1 year old kid who wakes up at night crying in need of a hug and work early in the morning. I'm not always able to stay overnight for the sake of a game. With that said we either end the day now and discard whatever time we have left or the people who are awake few hours from now use the time for more discussions and make sure the lynch happens in the end.

Makes sense?
avatar
Dessimu: This is not to mean you are mafia, but to understand your relation to agent and maybe your place in game.
Relation? Well, I'm not his brother.

avatar
Dessimu: Surprised a little too, but agent seemed to be distracted since the beginning of the game. Speaking of agent, lets hope he's fine.
He's in college. Leonard actually IS his brother, so we would have heard if he wasn't fine.

But seriously, your overall question is apt enough.

My point was that the best explanation for agent's behavior (regardless of alignment) was that he was skimming and not involved, consistent with his play in a recent game where he was town. All of that could have just been a ploy UP UNTIL the moment he asked for a sub on the very grounds that explained his play.

Ergo, you're not going to learn anything about the alignment of his character from his play. It's not like he was nervous and fidgety and then explained he needed a sub because he was off on vacation to Rome. The available evidence (his request to leave) nicely fits what already should have been the null hypothesis.

avatar
Dessimu: Nothing much to say here in my defense. I only think that scum wouldn't draw such "possibly LAMIST" attention to themselves early in the game. That is why my question was clear and open.
Yogs, may Hijack enter the game just long enough to post "WIFOM" at Dess? No? Well crap.

WIFOM. Though more to the point, you could well be scum making a slip (not usually a rational act) and asking, why, rationally, you would have done it? The question you are asking now elides the more important question to the underlying answer.

avatar
Dessimu: Sounds almost poetic.
I have written a number of poems. For $100, I will agree not to post them here.

How else is a poet supposed to make money?

avatar
bler144: ..."us"...
avatar
Dessimu: Why in quotation marks?
Ah, very perceptive. Two reasons, actually. One is that to not flag it as such is quite LAMIST, and the other is a breadcrumb I'll leave in place for now. But I'm glad you asked.

avatar
Dessimu: And what do you of me, bler?
You're shaping up a bit. This was a good post, full of insightful questions. Whether you're scum now better covering your tracks, or town becoming slowly less confused, that I can't say. Yet.

Fair enough. Beginning this game I'm trying to bar myself from posting after 11pm as well.

Be well. Rest and hug your child as needed.

Ironically it took me 10+ minutes to write that response. But I appreciate the bump - didn't want to accidentally post merge and get zaaaped. I'm actually neither a masochist nor sadist.

Asshole occasionally.

bler144: He's in college. Leonard actually IS his brother, so we would have heard if he wasn't fine.
Ya, he just bit off a little more than he could chew. (Like when he tries to beat me at Smash Bros. - Zing!)
Sorry for not showing up earlier, but I had an extremely demanding, and am unbelievably tired; I admit I've only skimmed through all of the new posts (last one #397) rather superficially, except of Lifthrasil's one

Lifthrasil's post seems not only another one of his "pop-in/pop-out" visits, but his last one too? Which is a real shame with the imminent deadline and him being so close to getting lynched.
I'm also quite disappointed that he didn't take a few more minutes to address anything else that was said and pointed out (it's quite apparent that he read our posts), and only replied to Leonard03. So, despite his explanation, my eyebrow is still raised.

So, he's been lurking because he can't devote more time to the game due to a heavy work schedule. And he's Town Vanilla.

So, I'm pondering, and before making my decision I'd like an answer to why he didn't ask for a replacement since he saw he wouldn't be able to actively partake in the game. The wording of his posts makes it sound like it's nth very recent, so why didn't he? Will he be back to answer? I don't think so, unfortunately.

His obligations in the physical world sound like he's overwhelmed; I can related, and he's got my sympathy, as I'm pretty pressed for time and energy myself. Still, I find it strange that he didn't act earlier (like agentcarr16 did), and is now, a few hours before the deadline expires, just going "hey, I've got no time, go ahead and lynch me, just know that you'll be lynching a townie". I mean he was on yesterday, replying to cristigale and Hunter65536, reading the thread which led him to change his vote to Dessimu, when he could instead have said he can't keep up and needs to be replaced.
I believe his workload to be a valid reason for not keeping up and partaking more. I also believe it to be a valid reason to want out of the game. But is it only that? Could he be looking to get lynched? And if yes, why?

Which brings me to his claim - is he telling the truth? Is he both Town and Vanilla? The way he's been acting this game, I really can't say.
I will assume that if he's Town, he would not lie about being Vanilla. So, If he is telling the truth, and doesn't get lynched, then we're stuck with a townie who won't be contributing, won't be following the thread closely, won't be looking out, thus won't be helping us find and get rid of the threats we're faced with.
Additionally, going for someone else at this point, may net us Mafia, but it could also net us (much more involved) Town, and what's worse, even cost us a power-role.

If he's not telling the truth, well, I guess that's pretty much self-explanatory.

I know that we're very (too?) close to the deadline, but would anyone consider a No-Lynch, or if set to lynch, go for someone else, with all the danger that comes with it, to give yogsloth time to look for a replacement?

Pre-post refresh - I see more posts, but haven't read any yet, so sorry if anything I've said is no longer relevant.
avatar
bler144: Fair enough. Beginning this game I'm trying to bar myself from posting after 11pm as well.

Be well. Rest and hug your child as needed.
I'll still be here for some more time but will have to go to bed eventually.

Now answer me something. You said the choices narrow down to Lift/Dessimu. No-lynch in that order for you. But at the same time you ask for stronger cases against Dessimu. Why? If he is already #2 on your list and Lift seems like the proper lynch option what more do you need?
