I am not sure I have much of a problem if it is limited to Russia and CIS/ex-Soviet countries. It is whole 1 dollar = 1 euro thing I have a problem with. Lowering barriers to entry to gaming in poorer(notice the "er" bit) is something I have hard time to get upset about. That beeing said I AM troubled by the absence of an announcement of this change. Anyway thanks for the answers everybody.

You mean this one :)

Avogadro6: I miss TET. :(
Me too. Guess he knew exactly what was coming and decided he don't want to be the guy who has to explain it to the angry crowd.

Piranjade: Russian invasion? Seriously? That's a bit tasteless from my point of view. :-(
Perhaps a bit too much of me calling a spade a spade. I've amended the text.

I am not sure I would call Russia poorer. A lot more than 50% of the countries in the world have a lower standard of living than Russia, including practically all of Africa and much of Asia, not to mention a few European countries. Yet they pay 2.6 times the Russian price.

There was an announcement.

"For over a year we’ve been offering games at lower prices in Russia and other independent countries that emerged from the USSR, places where game prices have historically been lower than in western markets. Starting today, more games will be priced appropriately for these territories. We've decided to adjust our pricing to the realities of the market, to avoid a sense that you have to pay more to get your games DRM-free or that GOG.com games are more expensive than other stores that operate in those regions.

Just in case you wondering, introducing these price changes won't affect the way gifting works today on GOG.com."

Thanks, sounds reasonable to me.

Certainly. I do wish to remain respectful, and it's never my intention to make light of grave circumstances.

-hugs- I would have been surprised if you acted differently.
And excuse me for not entering the debate currently, I don't mean to make it look like I don't think about the topic at hand and only care about the wording, but I'm just so tired right now.

Eh, probably better to wait until things cool down anyway. Rational discussion will be easier down the line. :)
What happened? You used to be cool!

No, seriously, complaining about regional prices is like complaining about having different currencies around the world. In other words, this is like tilting at windmills... BUT, if we are here we also are idealist, aren't we?

We are indeed, Herr Doktor, we are indeed. We draw our lines in the sand, in full knowledge that the wind will come and sweep them away.
