They used to have them on steam, and all it did was anger/frustrate people who were not sitting on the computer all day long. You get punished because you have work or other stuff to do. People would just refund the game, then buy the game on the flash sale price if they had enough time.

It just makes it fair for everybody if the sale price stays the same during the sales. It also causes a lot less hassle for you guys having to deal with all the refunds.

With one exception (probably a bug), all the games on the GOG flash (a.k.a. somnia) sales were not discounted at all prior to appearing as a flash sale.

Yes. But prior to the flash sale it wasn't discounted, IIRC. So it's not likely that many people bought it then and would want to refund it, as was your original point.

Wouldnt that actually make it even worse? if its not on sale before hand during the event, somebody pays full price thinking its not going to go on sale, then an hour later, its on a deep discount in the flash sale.

Buying a game full price during a big sale is never a good idea. Many games change from not discounted to discounted, or vice versa, regardless of flash sales. This is not unique to GOG and usually happens because many publishers do not want their games discounted for three whole weeks, so they leave early or join late. It's out of the stores' hands.

If one wants to buy a game full price and not be disappointed, I recommend doing it well away from big sales.

Like i said, im aware its been done before when i said steam, and steam got rid off it. GOG have the power to not do flash sales, its their store, their rules.
I think sales are not a good idea in general. What if you're not aware that there's going to be a sale including your wishlisted game and you buy it beforehand? And then there's another thing. Sale ends, discounts disappear and it may turn out somebody will decide they'd like to buy the game, however, it turns out it was on sale before, but now it isn't. It's not fair in both cases, we really should stop all discounts.
It's not a good idea to buy games at full price during the big sales.

Besides the games that get added to the sale after it starts, there's also giveaways. So far, there's been Sanitarium, Venetica, Shantae & the Pirate's Curse, Beautiful Desolation, and Flashback. There is going to be one more on Friday.

Even the stuff on my wish list that never goes on sale, I wouldn't purchase at full price during a big sale. Buy the stuff that really is on sale as those prices aren't going anywhere.

As an escort nonpareil, to us, work is a dirty 4-letter word that ends in "k." ((;--))

Sure, that's the downside to flash sales.

But your OP is completely omitting the upside: they add interest & excitement to the act of visiting GOG's website.

Therefore, yes, GOG should continue to have flash sales, since the upside outweighs the downside.

It's not the end of the world if you miss a flash deal. Worst case scenario, the same game you missed will still be on sale either immediately, and/or in the near future, at a price that is close to what it's flash deal price was.

So no need to stress if you miss a flash deal.

That problem has a real easy solution: simply never buy games at full price.

Perhaps I should have added /s ;)
Fish sales are not a good idea either... especially now, in the summer. It stinks! :P

Flash sales usually offer higher discounts than regular sales. I guess they may also be contractually regulated because of that. In the end I find them a neat idea that adds on top of the discounts you usually get during a sale. It's also a way for more obscure games to get in the limelight for a while.

I think Flash sales are great, (I feel they add a little excitement to normal sales) as long as they are not done too frequently, and that the expectations that future Flash sales will have to always better any and all previous Flash sales is a slightly unrealistic expectation.

Honestly, regarding flash sales, I will say I had a lot of fun being here for the Keaneing, waiting and waiting for that 500 count to go down 1 by 1 for hours.
