It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hello,

i get the above error when executing the downloaded sh-file.

From a quick search i understand the following: the file is truncated, a download manager for linux is not available by gog, there is a third party command line downloader for firefox but i have strong resentments against installing any third party programs, i am that paranoid :-)

I tried the download three times, it takes me 5-7 hours each time, and every time the file was truncated at around 9.5 of 11.4 GB.

What can i or gog do ?

Cheers and so on

I've had problems with truncated and dropped browser downloads as well. I got it sorted by using a browser-specific download manager - I'm using Firefox so I went with DownloadThemAll! - it's available as an add-on. It's open source, doesn't seem to have any dubious adaware or spyware in it, so I'll recommend it (and I don't recommend things lightly).

Otherwise... use Galaxy!!! What, you're on Linux? No matter, still use Galaxy. You just have to use Galaxy if you want reliable downloads, GOGBear's orders. (Don't mind these last few lines, I'm just venting frustration here a bit.)

Yes, i am trying it with the downthemall right now, which i installed only for that case. Will uninstall asa the download has completed.

I don't want any client software that installs things on my pc other than the necessary browser and the os' package system, so Galaxy is no option for me, even if it was available for Linux.

It would be a nice move if the gog downloader with the no spy promise would be available for Linux :-) Or even better, there are so many standard tools in the world to distribute large downloads ! But i know, that'll be too easy.

Thinks me.

Besides that everything is fine and the sun is shining ... one moment (*opens the blinds and shies away*) ... yes, it is shining !

if you talk about lgogdownloader: it is open source, feel free to read it to satisfy your paranoia :p
but people have been using the tool for ~5 years now, if there were some nefarious code in it that tries to kill your cat, I think we would have heard of it by now ;)

the geeky option: use the power of the command line :o

open firefox, navigate to the download page, open the network inspection( Tools->Web Developer->Network or ctrl+shift+e)
then click on the download, let it start and run for a few seconds, then abort
now look in the network inspector window, at the last line. it should be something like: GET setup_xxx.exe
right-click on it, copy->copy as cURL

then open a terminal window, paste (middle mouse button) the command in it
since you want the save the download to a file add the following to the command line: -o setup_my_game.exe
(or however you want to name it)
add the option: -C -
to tell the program to automatically resume the download
then hit enter, and watch

No, i didn't try lgogdonwloader because github wasn't available for some reason and because i usually don't install undocumented software.

immi101: thanks ! That one was new to me ! I never imagined that such a thing could work.

Edit: you should have mentioned that i have install the package curl to try as bidden ;-)

'nother edit: And it doesn't. I browsed through all the error messages that the execution of the pasted monster causes. I can't past it in here cause links apparently aren't allowed. So cancel the thanks.

*turns away with an evil grin*

Now i can see lgogdownloader and will try it if the current download is truncated as well, but really, first others are no reason for me, second if i don't succeed in compiling right away i will refer to other things because, in contrast to many others, i have no time for searching bugs all day long. I just wanted to play a few hours.

The download manager broke up as well. The error is most probably not on my side, error code was 403 after ~7GB.

I doubt that a change of download means will result in succeess.

GOG, any ideas ?
